إِن حَسِبْت الْأَمْر سَهْلَا
You have grown more ignorant, conceited one,
You have increased in ignorance, O arrogant one,
if you thought the matter easy.
If you reckoned this matter to be light.

It was never a day for submission,
or terms dictated by you,
Nor for conditions dictated by you.

Nor for us to witness settlements rise,
where our foe sought shelter.
In which our enemy takes shelter and shade.

You, deluded one, do not know
You, O deluded one, do not know,
even a shadow of what peace means.
Even a shadow of the meaning of peace.

True peace builds its lush, spreading shade,
its lofty, overlooking edifice.
Its towering, overlooking edifice.

Egypt seeks no peace
Egypt does not desire a peace,
that bows heads in humiliation.
That lowers heads in humiliation.

Egypt desires it to be a peace,
blooming with roses and Arabian jasmine.
Blooming with roses and jasmine flowers.

Its roses bear no thorns;
A rose that bears no thorns within,
it is no surrender of a right.
Not a relinquishing of what is right.

Our land is the honor for which we perish;
Our land is the honor for which we perish,
even if we die, it endures.
Even if we fall as mere shadows.

We remain a people of mighty power,
and resolve that will not wane.
With a determination that shall never wane.

Our land is no arena
Our land is not a bargaining field,
where today we appease others with words.
Where today we satisfy with mere words.

A grain of sand is worth a life,
A grain of sand is worth a soul,
and in value it is dearer still.
And in our esteem, it is dearer still.

O you who claims that we,

Have grown weary of war—never!

We were born into its very midst,
since our past began.
Since the dawn of our past began.

We are always the soldiers of the Arabs;
We are the soldiers of the Arabs, always,
we vanquish the arrogant foe.
We vanquish the pampered foe.

Palestine does not belong to an aggressor
Palestine is not for a tyrant,
who dealt death to the seeker of peace.
Who repaid the seeker of peace with death.

And the sheltered maiden, my sister,
and make the mother taste bereavement:
Making the mother taste the bitterness of loss.

Nothing shall make me forget my rights,
by a usurper whose past is my slaughter.
Not a usurper whose past is my slaughter.

Terror has never been of avail,
against one who sacrificed and proved his valor.
Against those who sacrificed and endured.

I, even if I sacrifice my life,
If I must sacrifice my entire life,
in my struggle will never weary.
In my struggle, I shall never tire.
