To the land of God's House, processions made pilgrimage,
Caravans journeyed to the Holy Land,
To the land of God's House, great processions have streamed, / Caravans of piety where shoulders crowd and press.
Processions of piety, jostled by shoulders.
Crowds jostling as they marched in lines.
Within them, hearts fluttered toward Mecca's embrace, / On wings of longing, though borne within vessels.
وفيهاand within them قلوبhearts نحوtoward مكةMecca رفرفتfluttered
وفيها قلوب نحو مكة رفرفت
بأجنحةwith wings شوقاout of longing حوتهاheld them مراكبvessels
بأجنحة شوقا حوتها مراكب
And within them, hearts fluttered toward Mecca,
In them were hearts that fluttered to Mecca,
On foot and mounted, they came from distant lands, / From every deep ravine, the walker and the rider appeared.
On wings of longing, held within vessels.
On wings of longing borne by ships.
Every face is a Qibla; around it they gathered, / United in love and piety, with tears freely flowing.
مشاةon foot وركباناand mounted أتوthey came منfrom بقاعهاits regions
مشاة وركبانا أتو من بقاعها
ومنand from كلevery فجmountain pass هلappeared ساعone on foot وراكبand a rider
ومن كل فج هل ساع وراكب
On foot and mounted, they came from its regions,
Walkers and riders came from every corner,
Clad in white garments stripped of every sewn thread, / Turning solely to God, shunning all profanity.
And from every mountain pass appeared a walker and a rider.
Through each ravine rode horse and rider.
They poured forth to the circling grounds and the Sacred Rite, / Where sins are cast down and burdens removed.
ووجههand his face كلeach one قبلةprayer-direction حولهاaround it التقيmet
ووجهه كل قبلة حولها التقي
عليin الحبlove والتقويand piety منof الدمعtears ساكبone pouring forth
علي الحب والتقوي من الدمع ساكب
And each one's face was toward the qibla; around it they met,
Each face turned to that one direction,
The spirits of Purity shine radiant with their light, / Bound together by unity and shared sacred founts.
In love and piety, each pouring forth tears.
Tears of devotion freely flowing.
Their prayer is 'Labbayk, Labbayk, O our Lord', / Yours is the Praise and Grace, and Your remembrance is duty.
ببيضin white ثيابgarments جردواwere divested منof مخيطهاtheir sewn ones
ببيض ثياب جردوا من مخيطها
ومنand of رفثlewdness عنهaway from it إليtoward اللهGod ناكبturning aside
ومن رفث عنه إلي الله ناكب
In white garments, they were divested of sewn clothing,
In robes of white, unsewn, unstained,
For Your remembrance is piety for hearts and a vital need, / While noble mounts have borne them to the place of repentance.
And of lewdness, turning away from it toward God.
Bowing to God, their burdens lifting.
The world strove toward You, its peoples raising their call, / To a sanctuary surrounded by piercing light.
أفاضواstreamed forth إليtoward ركنcorner المطافthe circumambulation ground ومشعرand a sacred site
أفاضوا إلي ركن المطاف ومشعر
تحطare removed الخطاياsins عندهthere والمثالبand faults
تحط الخطايا عنده والمثالب
They streamed toward the corner of the circumambulation ground and a sacred site,
They poured into the circling place of Tawaf,
They have left behind the memory of kin and home, / Forsaking all else until the sacred journey is done.
Where sins and faults are removed.
Where sins are shed and faults forgiven.
وتشرقand shine أرواحsouls الصفاal-Safa بنورهاwith their light
وتشرق أرواح الصفا بنورها
وقدand indeed ألفتهاunited them وحدةunity ومشاربand outlooks
وقد ألفتها وحدة ومشارب
And the souls of al-Safa shine with their light,
Their spirits glowed with light serene
And unity and common outlooks have brought them together.
At oneness found, all drinking from one spring.
دعاؤهموtheir supplication لبيكat Your service لبيكat Your service ربناour Lord
دعاؤهمو لبيك لبيك ربنا
لكto You الحمدpraise والنعميand blessing وذكركand remembrance of You واجبa duty
لك الحمد والنعمي وذكرك واجب
Their prayer: 'At Your service, at Your service, our Lord!'
"We come, we come," their prayers resounded.
Yours are praise and blessing, and remembrance of You is a duty.
To You alone all praise and thanks we bring.
فذكركfor remembrance of You تقويpiety للقلوبfor hearts وطرةand an ornamental fringe
فذكرك تقوي للقلوب وطرة
وقدand indeed حملتهاhave carried them للمتابtoward repentance نجائبnoble camels
وقد حملتها للمتاب نجائب
For remembrance of You is piety for hearts and an adorning fringe,
Your remembrance fortifies our hearts,
And noble camels have carried them toward repentance.
Uplifting them like morning's gentle breeze.
سعتhastened نحوكtoward You الدنياthe world أهلتraised the pilgrimage cry شعوبهاits peoples
سعت نحوك الدنيا أهلت شعوبها
إليtoward حرمa sanctuary حولهaround it ..النورthe light ثاقبpiercing
إلي حرم حوله ..النور ثاقب
The world hastened toward You; its peoples raised the pilgrimage cry,
The world converges toward Your Precincts,
Toward a sanctuary surrounded by piercing light.
As people answer Your divine decrees.
وقدand indeed تركواthey left منfrom خلفهمbehind them ذكرremembrance of أهلهمtheir families
وقد تركوا من خلفهم ذكر أهلهم
وأوطانهمand their homelands..حتيuntil تتمare completed العواقبthe final outcomes
وأوطانهم..حتي تتم العواقب
And they left behind them the remembrance of their families,
Leaving behind their homes and families,
And their homelands, until the final outcomes are fulfilled.
Until their holy quest is satisfied.
