  1. خلعت على ملاعبها شبابي

    وأحلامي على خضر الروابي

    I draped my youth over her playgrounds,

    And my dreams over the green hills.

  2. ولي في غوطتيك هوى قديم

    تغلغل في أمانيَ العذاب

    And in your two Ghoutas I have a love of old,

    That has seeped into my sweet hopes.

  3. أتنكرني دمشق وكان عهدي

    بها ألاَ تلوح بالسراب

    Does Damascus disown me? I had known her

    Never to beckon with mirages.

  4. أتنكرني وفي قلبي سناها

    وأعراف العروبة في إهابي

    Does she disown me, with her radiance in my heart,

    And Arab traditions in my very skin?

  5. فلسطين الحبيبة كيف أحيا

    بعيدا عن سهولك والهضاب

    Beloved Palestine, how can I live

    Far from your plains and plateaus?

  6. تناديني السفوح مخضبات

    وفي الآفاق آثار الخصاب

    The color-stained slopes call to me,

    And signs of fertility mark the horizons.

  7. تناديني الجداول شاردات

    تسير غريبة دون اغتراب

    The streams call to me, wandering,

    Flowing as strangers, yet not in exile.

  8. ويسألني الرفاق ألا لقاء

    وهل من عودة بعد الغياب

    And my companions ask me: Is there no reunion?

    And is there a return after absence?

  9. غدا سنعود والأجيال تصغي

    إلى وقع الخطا عند الإياب

    Tomorrow we shall return, while the generations listen

    To the sound of footsteps upon our return.

  10. مع الأمل المجنح والأغاني

    مع النسر المحلق والعقاب

    With winged hope and songs,

    With the soaring vulture and the eagle,

  11. مع الفجر الضحوك على الصحارى

    نعود مع الصباح على العباب

    With the laughing dawn over the deserts,

    We return with the morning upon the surging sea,

  12. مع الرايات دامية الحواشي

    على وهج الأسنة والحراب

    With banners bloodied at their fringes,

    Above the blaze of spearheads and lances.
