Indeed, God's victory has come, and the heart has opened in joy.
Victory from God has come and gladdened hearts afresh
For, with the conquest of Crimea, hardship became easy for us.
For with Crimea's opening, hardship was made light

And the enemies have been humbled on every side.
Enemies are humiliated on every side
And the vast expanse of open space grew narrow around them.
While for them spacious horizons narrowed tight

يكاد يذوب الصخر والصارم العضب
Through a war whose immense horror turns a child's hair gray,
A war that makes children grey with its enormity
Rock and the keen-edged sword all but melt.
A rock would melt, and weapons snap with rage

When the cannons thundered within it, they rained down
When cannons roar thunderously
Cups of death that the clouds could not match.
It rains death's wine beyond clouds' range

The sons of al-Asfar gulped down crimson death,
The yellow folk drink death red as wine
And in their darkened crowns lay plunder for the white blades.
To the whites - plunder satisfies their crave

You see them drunk; within their heads the sword-edges have
Drunk on skulls as if it were wine divine
A song, and their drink is the undiluted draught of death.
As death's wine for them to sip and savor

When the towered fortress fell, and they saw
When towers sight the starry Standard
Its rampart reciting 'Prostration,' the heart split apart.
Hearts break and prostrate in awed wonder

And if the supple lance sways the bough of its form,
When the spear shakes its sturdy stand
Then every drop of blood in them is enamored of its stature.
Blood flows to ankles yon and under

And no sooner did the sword's cheek blush than
The sword's cheek blushes red no sooner
Their necks, in longing, yearned to kiss it.
Than their necks yearn that cheek to tender

And their army's great numbers had deluded them before,
Great hordes once emboldened slayers
Yet that army and the riders availed them nothing.
Now neither horde nor steed can defend them

Routed in panic their forces scatter
Over which slaughter, capture, and plunder held sway.

Escaping the blade, fear itself would end them
Alone for a day, terror would have annihilated them.

For a state of the House of Osman struck terror into them—

Majidian, to which Turks and Arabs submitted.

And victory's herald came, singing a chronogram:
Indeed, God's victory has come, and the heart has opened in joy.
