وَبَيعُ نَفسِي بِمَا لَيسَتْ لَهُ ثَمَنَا
Hatred of life and fear of God drove me forth,
My hatred of life and fear of God drove me out,
And selling my soul for what is beyond its worth.
And selling myself for that which has no price.

Indeed, I weighed what endures, to balance it against
I have weighed that which remains for me against it -
What does not endure—no, by God, the two did not balance.
What does not remain, by God, is not equal.
