وَلا أَقولُ نَعَم يَوماً فَأُتبِعُها

وَلا أَقولُ نَعَم يَوماً فَأُتبِعُها

مَنعاً وَلَو ذَهَبَت بِالمالِ وَالوَلَدِ

مَنعاً وَلَو ذَهَبَت بِالمالِ وَالوَلَدِ

And I never say 'yes' and then follow it

Never will I say yes one day, then take it back

with refusal, even if it costs me wealth and offspring.

Even if it costs me money or my child

وَلا اِؤتُمِنتُ عَلى سِرٍّ فَبُحتُ بِهِ

وَلا اِؤتُمِنتُ عَلى سِرٍّ فَبُحتُ بِهِ

وَلا مَدَدتُ إِلى غَيرِ الجَميلِ يَدي

وَلا مَدَدتُ إِلى غَيرِ الجَميلِ يَدي

Nor have I been entrusted with a secret and then divulged it,

Nor will I be trusted with a secret, then divulge it

nor have I stretched out my hand toward anything but what is noble.

Nor will I extend my hand for anything but good
