  6. وضفاف النيل مهوى حبنا

    وعلى شطيه ساعات الوصال

    And the banks of the Nile were our love's haven,

    and on its two banks were the hours of union,

  7. حين ترنو لي بطرف ساحر

    ورنت عيني بقلب غير خالي

    when you gazed at me with a bewitching eye,

    and my eye gazed back, with a heart not free of love.

  8. ليتني والبعد يفري خافقي

    بالذي لاقيت من ذات الجمال

    If only I, while separation rends my beating heart

    with what I have endured from the beautiful one,

  9. أعرف الحب هنيئا طيبا

    لا أجافيه لغدر أو مطال

    could know love as blissful and sweet,

    not shun it for betrayal or stalling.

    يأسر القلب بألوان الدلال

    O my beloved, by Him who gave you beauty

    that captivates the heart with shades of coy charm,

  11. ارع حبي ذاكرا أيامنا

    فعلى ذكراك للعهد اتكالي

    cherish my love, remembering our days,

    for I rely on your remembrance to uphold the pledge.
