فَلا تَكونَن كَمَن أَلقَتهُ بِطنَتُهُ

فَلا تَكونَن كَمَن أَلقَتهُ بِطنَتُهُ

بَينَ القَرينَينِ حَتّى ظَلَّ مَقرونا

بَينَ القَرينَينِ حَتّى ظَلَّ مَقرونا

So never be like one whose gluttony cast him

So be not like the one whom his belly has laid

Between the two companions, until he was left bound.

Between the two poles of the earth, to remain shackled
