    Rise, lions of goodness, and devour death.

    Demolish the strongholds of evil and take the foes as spoils.

    Do not abandon a sun that has appeared in the sky—

    Darkness had been the sole entrenched power.

    Rise against the naive one among the tyrants, for he thinks

    That lions fear offering themselves in sacrifice.

    So show him how, whenever the earth is watered with blood,

    Then its growth is lions calling for glory.

    يَكْسُو الْحَيَاةَ يُضِيئُهَا نُورُ الْهُدَى

    Rise for God's sake, that His law may rise high;

    It clothes life; the light of guidance illuminates it.

    Rise for honor's sake—how can you be ruled

    By one who violated your honor, stripped of scruples?

    Rise for the sake of mosques—whenever they proclaim God's greatness,

    Then the echo's reverberation shakes the reaches of the worlds.

    They were beacons of guidance, bestowing on humankind

    Every kind of goodness that sheltered and brought joy.

    Does that ungrateful one raze them, hoping

    To extinguish the pure sun in a drunken rage?

    Rise, for you are stars to the free,

    And against the tyrants, your fire will never die out.

    So give the unbowed a draught of honor from your river,

    And your defiance has indeed become a foaming sea.

    O lions of our wounded nation, weave

    From these wounds garments of still more glorious honor.

    O you tyrant, rejoice in the one

    Who will show you your might, cowed and shackled.

    So spread your darkness through all creation,

    And stop the sun's radiance from being renewed.

    اقْتُلْ رَضِيعًا فِي الْحَنَانِ مُمَدَّدَا

    Kill a boy dreaming in innocence;

    Kill an infant lying in loving care;

    Rape the Muslim women, and leave none

    In al-Sham but the cowed who prostrate themselves.

    فَابْذُرْ جِرَاحَكَ وَارْوِهَا وَتَزَوَّدَا

    So you will surely reap the wounds' pus;

    So sow your wounds, water them, and provision yourself.
