لا تنزلِ الناس أعلى من منازلهم

إنَّ الزيادة تشويهٌ وإيذاءُ

إنَّ الزيادة تشويهٌ وإيذاءُ

Do not place people above their stations.

Do not rank people higher than their station,

Indeed, excess is distortion and harm.

For excess is but distortion and harm.

فالماءُ للزرعِ مِقدارٌ يعيشُ به

فالماءُ للزرعِ مِقدارٌ يعيشُ به

ولا حياةَ لما قد أغرق الماءُ

ولا حياةَ لما قد أغرق الماءُ

For crops live on a measured amount of water,

Water for crops has a measure that gives life,

And there is no life for what water has drowned.

Yet what water has drowned, no life can form.
