وتُريكَand shows you نفسُكَyour own self فيin مُعانَدةopposing الوَرىhumankind
وتُريكَ نفسُكَ في مُعانَدة الوَرى
رَشَداًwisdom ولستَand you are not إذاwhen فَعلتَyou do so براشِدِwise
رَشَداً ولستَ إذا فَعلتَ براشِدِ
Your own soul makes defying all mankind seem wise to you,
And your own self shows you, in opposing humankind,
Though when you do so, you are anything but wise.
wisdom—yet, when you do so, you are not wise.
شَغلَتكَdistracted you عنfrom أفعالِهاits deeds أفعالهُمtheir deeds
شَغلَتكَ عن أفعالِها أفعالهُم
هَلاwhy did you not اقتَصرتَconfine yourself علىto عَدُوٍّan enemy واحِدِsingle
هَلا اقتَصرتَ على عَدُوٍّ واحِدِ
Their deeds distract you from the deeds of your own soul—
Their deeds have distracted you from your own self's deeds.
