إِذا ما تَولَّت نَكبةٌ مِن صُروفِه

إِذا ما تَولَّت نَكبةٌ مِن صُروفِه

أتَت نَكبةٌ أُخرى علَى الإثرِ تَقتَفي

أتَت نَكبةٌ أُخرى علَى الإثرِ تَقتَفي

Whenever a calamity from its vicissitudes passes,

When misfortune turns away from its course

Another calamity comes on its heels, following its trail.

Another misfortune follows right after

ألَم تَرني لا جَورُهنَّ مُفارِقي

ألَم تَرني لا جَورُهنَّ مُفارِقي

ولا أَحدٌ في الناسِ منهنَّ مُنصِفي

ولا أَحدٌ في الناسِ منهنَّ مُنصِفي

Do you not see that their injustice never leaves me,

Don't you see they won't stop wronging me

And no one among the people secures me justice against them?

And no one is fair to me among them

وها أَناذا في دَفعِهنَّ مُعوِّلٌ

وها أَناذا في دَفعِهنَّ مُعوِّلٌ

عَلَيكَ ومُستَغنٍ بجودِكَ مُكتَفي

عَلَيكَ ومُستَغنٍ بجودِكَ مُكتَفي

And here I am, to ward them off, relying

And here I am, relying on you

On you, free from want and content with your bounty.

To repel them, self-sufficient with your generosity

فَبادِر لَما يَبقى عَلَيكَ ثَناؤهُ

فَبادِر لَما يَبقى عَلَيكَ ثَناؤهُ

فَلَيسَ بِباقٍ غيرُه يا ابنَ يوسُفِ

فَلَيسَ بِباقٍ غيرُه يا ابنَ يوسُفِ

So hasten to what will bring you lasting praise,

So take the initiative for what remains of your praise

For nothing else endures, O son of Yusuf.

For nothing else remains except it, O son of Joseph
