عَاقَدَتنيbound me يَدُthe hand الزَّمانِof time بِصَرفٍto a misfortune
عَاقَدَتني يَدُ الزَّمانِ بِصَرفٍ
صَرفَتهُturned it away يَداكَyour two hands بالأمسِyesterday عَنِّيfrom me
صَرفَتهُ يَداكَ بالأمسِ عَنِّي
The hand of time bound me to a misfortune
The hand of fate bound me yesterday
that your two hands turned away from me yesterday;
Your hand diverted it from me the day before
فَلهذاso for this أريقُI pour out فيbefore كلِّevery وَجهٍface
فَلهذا أريقُ في كلِّ وَجهٍ
ماءَwater (figuratively, dignity) وَجهيof my face كأنَّهas though it ليسَwere not مِنِّيmine
ماءَ وَجهي كأنَّه ليسَ مِنِّي
so for this I pour out before every face
So for this reason does my face shed
the water of my face—my dignity—as though it were not mine.
Tears as though they were not mine
