بعضُone of منthose who غارَمَنيdemanded payment from me لازَمَنيkept after me
ثُمthen قَدindeed أَصبَحَhe began يَدعونيsummoning me إِلَيكto you
One of my creditors has kept after me,
Some who were infatuated with me stuck to me
then he began summoning me before you.
Then they started inviting me to you
وعَلىand on جُودِكَyour generosity عَوَّلتُI relied بهconcerning him
مثلlike ماthe way عَوَّلhe relied فيin الحُكمِjudgment عَلَيكon you
And I relied on your generosity in dealing with him,
And I relied on your generosity with them
just as he relied on you for judgment.
Like one relying on your justice
وكِلاناand both of us أيُّهاO القاضِيthe judge عَلَىupon
ثِقَةٍconfidence مِنكَfrom you بِماin what نَرجوwe hope for لدَيكwith you
And both of us, O judge, are
We both, oh judge, rely
confident in you for what we hope to find with you.
On your trust in what we hope from you
فتُخلِّصso you rescue منfrom يَدَيهِhis two hands خائِفاًa frightened man
خافَhe feared أَنthat يُحضِرَهُhe would bring him بينَbetween يَدَيكyour two hands
So free a frightened man from his hands,
So save from his hands one who is afraid
who feared he would be brought before you.
He fears being brought before you
فعَسىso may عندكَin your keeping ماwhat تكنَىyou are called by a byname بهِby it
وعَسىand may ليfor me راحَةٌrelief مِنfrom راحَتَيكyour two palms
So may you have what your byname signifies,
Maybe you have what satisfies you
and may I find relief from your two palms.
And maybe I can have some of your peace
