أيُّها النازِلُ في بَي

أيُّها النازِلُ في بَي

تٍ من المجدِ رَفيعِ

تٍ من المجدِ رَفيعِ

O you who dwell in a hou-

O you who dwell in a house of glory sublime,

-se of glory, lofty,

Whose generous hands, like his name, are proof against decline,

والَّذي جودُ يَدَيهِ

والَّذي جودُ يَدَيهِ

كاسمِهِ غيرُ مَنيعِ

كاسمِهِ غيرُ مَنيعِ

and whose two hands' bounty

Fate’s register, by providence drawn in haste, is sealed;

is, like your name, not beyond reach,

So let what happened in Sha‘ban be again in Rabi‘.

سبقَ الرسمُ بطَيا

سبقَ الرسمُ بطَيا

شٍ من الدَّهرِ سَريعِ

شٍ من الدَّهرِ سَريعِ

The customary gift came early through a head-

Then God has given you immunity for a year complete, we trust.

-long, swift stroke of time.

فليَكُن ما كانَ في

فليَكُن ما كانَ في

شَعبانَ في شَهر رَبيعِ

شَعبانَ في شَهر رَبيعِ

So let what used to be in

Sha'ban be in the month of Rabi'.

ثمَّ قَد أمنكَ اللَّه

ثمَّ قَد أمنكَ اللَّه

إلى الحولِ رجوعي

إلى الحولِ رجوعي

Then God has made you safe

from my return until next year.
