يا راكِباً مُستَعجِلاً حاجَةً

يا راكِباً مُستَعجِلاً حاجَةً

قَرِيبةً تُشفَى بها العلَّه

قَرِيبةً تُشفَى بها العلَّه

O rider, hastening to fulfill a need

O rider in haste for a need

near at hand, through which the ailment is cured,

That's soon remedied and healed

عارِض وَعرِّض بي إِذا صِرت في

عارِض وَعرِّض بي إِذا صِرت في

حَضرَةِ مَيمونِ بنِ عَبدِ اللَّه

حَضرَةِ مَيمونِ بنِ عَبدِ اللَّه

Approach him, and allude to me when you are in

If you meet Maimum son of Abdallah

the presence of Maymun ibn Abd Allah.

Then let him know from me

واعلِمهُ أنِّي قَد تَعلَّمتُ أن

واعلِمهُ أنِّي قَد تَعلَّمتُ أن

أُعالجِ العِلَّة بالقِلَّه

أُعالجِ العِلَّة بالقِلَّه

And tell him that I have learned to

That I've learned to treat illness

treat my ailment with privation.

With little remedy

والنَّاسُ مِن حَولي مَوَدّاتُهم

والنَّاسُ مِن حَولي مَوَدّاتُهم

معَ اختِلالِ الحالِ مُختَلَّه

معَ اختِلالِ الحالِ مُختَلَّه

And the people around me—their affections,

And people's affection for me

as my fortunes falter, falter too.

Despite my troubled state

كأنَّنِي في يَومِ حَشرٍ وَلا

كأنَّنِي في يَومِ حَشرٍ وَلا

تَعارفٌ ثَمَّ ولا خُلَّه

تَعارفٌ ثَمَّ ولا خُلَّه

As though I were on the Day of Gathering, with no

Is confused like the Day of Gathering

mutual recognition there, nor friendship.

With no knowing of friends or peers
