أبا الجَيش جُزتَ الحدَّ في المَجدِ والعُلى

أبا الجَيش جُزتَ الحدَّ في المَجدِ والعُلى

فقيلَ وقُلنا ما أجلَّ وأَرفَعا

فقيلَ وقُلنا ما أجلَّ وأَرفَعا

O Abu al-Jaysh, you have surpassed all bounds in glory and eminence.

Father of the army, you have attained the utmost limit in glory and sublimity

So it was said, and we too said: 'How glorious and exalted!'

So it was said and we said how glorious and lofty

وقد جازَ شُكري حَدَّه فالتمِس مَعي

وقد جازَ شُكري حَدَّه فالتمِس مَعي

نَديماً نكن فيما نُحاولُه مَعا

نَديماً نكن فيما نُحاولُه مَعا

My gratitude, too, has surpassed its bounds; so seek with me

And Shukri has gone beyond the bounds of gratitude, so seek with me

a boon companion, that we may be together in what we undertake.
