ماnot دَمعُهhis tears فاضَoverflowed بلrather فاضَتoverflowed سَرائِرُهhis innermost secrets
ما دَمعُه فاضَ بل فاضَت سَرائِرُه
والدَّمعand tears أوَّلُthe first ماwhat يَجريflows وآخِرُهand its last
والدَّمع أوَّلُ ما يَجري وآخِرُه
It was not his tears that overflowed, but his innermost secrets.
And tears are the first thing to flow, and the last.
لسانُtongue عاذِرِهone who excuses him فيin الحبِّlove عاذلُهone who reproaches him
لسانُ عاذِرِه في الحبِّ عاذلُه
وقلبُand the heart عاذِلِهone who reproaches him فيin الحبِّlove عاذِرُهone who excuses him
وقلبُ عاذِلِه في الحبِّ عاذِرُه
The tongue of the one who excuses him in love reproaches him.
And the heart of the one who reproaches him in love excuses him.
أمسىhe came to be يَرىhe sees ماwhat رآهhe saw it منbecause of صَبابَتهِhis ardent longing
أمسى يَرى ما رآه من صَبابَتهِ
لكنbut مُساعِدُهhis helper فيin الشرِّevil ناظِرُهhis eye
لكن مُساعِدُه في الشرِّ ناظِرُه
He now sees what he has seen because of his ardent longing.
But his accomplice in evil is his eye.
