في مِثلها مِن نائباتِ الزَّمَن

في مِثلها مِن نائباتِ الزَّمَن

يُعرفُ إحسانُك يا ابن الحَسَن

يُعرفُ إحسانُك يا ابن الحَسَن

In calamities of time like this,

In times like these your kindness is known, O son of Al-Hasan,

Your kindness is known, O son of al-Hasan.

And between us is the love of youth which does not depart from a heart when it settles there.

وبَينَنا ودُّ الصِّبا وهولا

وبَينَنا ودُّ الصِّبا وهولا

يَرحلُ من قَلبٍ إذا ما سَكَن

يَرحلُ من قَلبٍ إذا ما سَكَن

Between us is the affection of youth, and it does not

You are worthy of generosity and nobility,

Depart from a heart once it has settled there.

And excellence among all people and favors.

وأنتَ أهلٌ للنَّدى والعُلى

وأنتَ أهلٌ للنَّدى والعُلى

والفَضلِ ما بينَ الورَى والمِنَن

والفَضلِ ما بينَ الورَى والمِنَن

And you are a man of generosity and eminence,

So rise to that which you have accustomed me,

Of excellence among humankind and of favors bestowed.

For if you do not rise to it, then who?

فانهَض إلى ما كنتَ عوَّدتَني

فانهَض إلى ما كنتَ عوَّدتَني

إن أنتَ لم تَنهَض إليهِ فَمَن

إن أنتَ لم تَنهَض إليهِ فَمَن

So rise to do what you have accustomed me to;

And know, O Abu Al-Saqr, that generosity,

If you do not rise to it, then who will?

Has for thankfulness upon it a price.

واعلم أبا الصَّقرِ بأنَّ النَّدى

واعلم أبا الصَّقرِ بأنَّ النَّدى

لَه من الشُّكرِ علَيهِ ثَمَن

لَه من الشُّكرِ علَيهِ ثَمَن

And know, Abu al-Saqr, that generosity

Has a price: the gratitude due for it.
