أقولُ لِجسمٍ مُسقَمٍ ولمُهجَةٍ

أقولُ لِجسمٍ مُسقَمٍ ولمُهجَةٍ

قد اختَلفا مِن بَعدِ بَينِكَ عَنهما

قد اختَلفا مِن بَعدِ بَينِكَ عَنهما

I say to a sickened body and a soul,

I say to a body diseased and to an accent

which have fallen out since your departure from them both:

That have differed after between you two

تخاصَمتُما من بَعدِهِ فأطَلتُما

تخاصَمتُما من بَعدِهِ فأطَلتُما

فليتَكُما قبلَ الفِراقِ افترقتُما

فليتَكُما قبلَ الفِراقِ افترقتُما

You two have quarreled since then and prolonged your strife;

You disputed after it so you prolonged

so would that you two had parted before the separation!

If only you both had separated before the farewell
