لي حَبِيبٌ دَنِفُ القَل
بِcompletes “the heart” بهَجريthrough my estrangement مُستَهامُهhis lovesick admirer
بِ بهَجري مُستَهامُه
I have a beloved; sick at heart
through my estrangement is his lovesick admirer.
منfrom حِماميmy death مُبتَداهُhis beginning
من حِمامي مُبتَداهُ
ومنand from الزَّهرِthe blossoms تَمامُهhis completion
ومن الزَّهرِ تَمامُه
His beginning comes from my death,
and his completion from the blossoms.
عَلويَّAlid (devoted to Ali) القَلبِat heart أصبَحتُI have become
عَلويَّ القَلبِ أصبَحتُ
ولوand even if طالَlasts long غَرامُهlonging for him
ولو طالَ غَرامُه
I have become Alid at heart,
even if longing for him lasts long.
