وسرُّand the secret منone who لبَّىanswered the call الهَوىlove مُحرِمُin pilgrimage consecration
وسرُّ من لبَّى الهَوى مُحرِمُ
He answered your love’s call, then began to conceal it,
He obeyed your whims and began to hide
and the secret of one who answers love’s call is consecrated.
The secret of one who obeys desire is forbidden

So I said, “Trudge on; counsel me: only
So I said, spears guide me, indeed

The pilgrims' rituals are complete with blood
ثمَّthen اطَّرَحناهُwe cast him aside ومَجفُونَهand his sheathed [sword]
ثمَّ اطَّرَحناهُ ومَجفُونَه
فصارَso he became لاneither مِنَّاof us ولاnor مِنكُمُof you
فصارَ لا مِنَّا ولا مِنكُمُ
Then we cast him aside, along with his sheathed [sword],
Then we cast him aside, and his body
so he became neither one of us nor one of you.
Became neither mine nor yours

And a charmer whose eye is languid—
And the slender one's seduction, exhausted
and the worst thing in an oath is what is sworn by—
The worst divider is the oath sworn

Until, exceeding in his injustice
and they, whenever wronged, are more unjust—
When wronged, they wronged even more
