A captive of stones in a level wasteland,

Captive of stones in a white desert

She departed, undoing the loop of the one who held fast.

She turned away, so the grip of the one holding on was undone

وقَد كنتُ أَشكو إن تشكَّت وإنَّما

وقَد كنتُ أَشكو إن تشكَّت وإنَّما

أنا اليَوم أَشكو أنَّها ليسَ تَشتَكي

أنا اليَوم أَشكو أنَّها ليسَ تَشتَكي

And I used to lament if she complained; but

And I used to complain if she complained but

Today I lament only that she no longer complains.

Today I complain that she does not complain
