    القول بما لا تَفي به البُلَغاءُ

    صار نور وللقلوب جلاء

    exquisite stanzaic adornment, which is to the eyes

    a light, and to the hearts a cleansing;

    فازدهَتْنا بحليها الحسناء

    إنَّما شيمة الكرام الوفاء

    You bestowed upon it every beauty;

    faithfulness is the very hallmark of the noble.

    وقفت عند حدّه الشعراء

    And indeed, you have truly ventured into a sea

    at whose edge the poets halted:

    وكلام كأنَّه الصهباء

    eloquent speech and concise expression,

    and words like tawny wine.

    Like a meadow in rugged uplands, upon which gleam

    the radiance of its beauty and splendor.

    So, in the sweetness of its wording, it is honeycomb,

    and in delicacy, it is water and air.

    So yours are the reward and recompense for it,

    and yours thereafter are praise and acclaim.
