حُيِّيتَ من قادم حَلَّ السُّرورُ به

حُيِّيتَ من قادم حَلَّ السُّرورُ به

وما له عن مَقام العزِّ تأخيرُ

وما له عن مَقام العزِّ تأخيرُ

Welcome, arriving one, whose coming brought joy!

Greetings to you, newcomer whose arrival has brought joy,

You are greeted by one whose arrival brings joy,

No delay shall keep him from the station of honor.

and for whom there is no delay in reaching the station of honor.

And he will not delay in reaching the abode of glory.

إنَّ الشدائدَ والأهوال قد ذَهَبَت

إنَّ الشدائدَ والأهوال قد ذَهَبَت

وللخطوب استحالات وتغيير

وللخطوب استحالات وتغيير

The hardships and terrors have now passed away;

Indeed, hardships and terrors have passed,

Hardships and terrors are now gone,

Calamities undergo transformations and change.

and calamities undergo transformations and change.

And adversities have changed and altered.

أرَتْك صِدْقَ مَوَدَّات الرجال بها

أرَتْك صِدْقَ مَوَدَّات الرجال بها

وبانَ عِندَك صِدْقُ القولِ والزُّورُ

وبانَ عِندَك صِدْقُ القولِ والزُّورُ

Through them, you saw the sincerity of men's affections,

In these trials, the sincerity of men's affections was shown to you,

He has shown you the truthfulness of men's affection,

And truthful speech and falsehood became clear to you.

and true speech and falsehood became clear to you.

And truth and falsehood have become evident to you.

ولم تجدْ كسليمان لديك أخاً

ولم تجدْ كسليمان لديك أخاً

عليك منه جميل الصنع مقصور

عليك منه جميل الصنع مقصور

You found no brother at your side like Sulayman,

And you found no brother at your side like Sulayman;

You have not found a brother like Solomon,

Whose gracious service is devoted to you alone.

his gracious deeds are reserved for you alone.

Whose good deeds towards you are limited.

شكراً لأفعاله الحُسنى فإنَّ له

شكراً لأفعاله الحُسنى فإنَّ له

يداً عليك وذاك الفعل مشكور

يداً عليك وذاك الفعل مشكور

Give thanks for his noble deeds, for he has bestowed

Give thanks for his fine deeds, for he has

Thanks for his good acts, for his hand is over you,

A favor upon you, and that deed deserves gratitude.

done you a kindness, and that deed deserves thanks.

And that deed is appreciated.

لقد وفى لك واسترضى المشير فما

لقد وفى لك واسترضى المشير فما

أبقى قصوراً ولا في الباع تقصير

أبقى قصوراً ولا في الباع تقصير

He proved true to you and won the minister's favor, leaving

He was indeed faithful to you and appeased the marshal, leaving

He has fulfilled his duty and pleased the advisor,

No deficiency, nor any failure within his power.

no shortcoming and no stinting of his efforts.

Leaving no shortcomings or flaws.

إنَّ المشيرَ أعزَّ الله دولته

إنَّ المشيرَ أعزَّ الله دولته

برّ رحيمٌ لديه الذنب مغفور

برّ رحيمٌ لديه الذنب مغفور

The minister—may God strengthen his realm—

Indeed, the marshal—may God strengthen his rule—

Indeed the advisor, may God honor his rule,

Is righteous and merciful; with him, a fault is forgiven.

is benevolent and merciful; in his presence, offenses are forgiven.

Is righteous and forgiving, erasing sins.

كأنّني بك مغمورٌ بنِعْمَتِه

كأنّني بك مغمورٌ بنِعْمَتِه

وأنْت ملحوظ عين السعد منظور

وأنْت ملحوظ عين السعد منظور

It is as though I behold you, immersed in his favor,

It is as though, through you, I am immersed in his bounty,

I imagine you immersed in his blessings,

Watched over and beheld by fortune's eye.

while the eye of good fortune watches over you with favor.

Observed by the eye of good fortune.

أهدى إليك سلاماً من سعادته

أهدى إليك سلاماً من سعادته

لطُّف فيه إشارات وتفسير

لطُّف فيه إشارات وتفسير

His Excellency sent you greetings

He sent you a greeting from His Excellency,

He sends you greetings from his joy,

In which he subtly couched intimations and explanations.

with hints and explanation delicately conveyed within it.

Subtleties and hints included.

فسوف يغنيك من سلطانه نظرٌ

فسوف يغنيك من سلطانه نظرٌ

وإنَّما نَظَرُ السلطان إكسير

وإنَّما نَظَرُ السلطان إكسير

A single glance from his authority will soon suffice you,

So a glance from his sovereign power will enrich you,

So his gaze will satisfy you,

For the sovereign's glance is nothing less than an elixir.

for the sultan's glance is an elixir.

And the gaze of a sultan is an elixir.

قد كانَ ما كانَ والأقدار جاريةٌ

قد كانَ ما كانَ والأقدار جاريةٌ

ولا يفيد مع الأقدار تدبير

ولا يفيد مع الأقدار تدبير

What happened has happened, and the decrees of fate run on;

What happened has happened, and destinies run their course,

What happened has happened, and fate flows on,

No planning avails against the decrees of fate.

and planning is of no avail before fate.

Planning is no use against fate.

حسب الفتى من قضاء الله معذرة

حسب الفتى من قضاء الله معذرة

والمرء فيما قضاه الله معذور

والمرء فيما قضاه الله معذور

God's decree is excuse enough for a young man,

God's decree is excuse enough for a young man,

It suffices the noble one to apologize to God's decree,

And one is excused for what God has ordained.

and a person is excused for what God has decreed.

And man is pardoned for what God decrees.

وابشِرْ بما سوف تحظى من عنايته

وابشِرْ بما سوف تحظى من عنايته

وأنتَ منه بما يُرضيك مسرور

وأنتَ منه بما يُرضيك مسرور

Rejoice in the favor you will receive from his care,

And rejoice in the care you will receive from him,

Rejoice in the care you will receive from him,

And in what pleases you, you shall be gladdened by him.

and you will be delighted by what pleases you from him.

And you are pleased by what satisfies you.

والنصر فيك له والخير أجمعه

والنصر فيك له والخير أجمعه

وإنَّما أنتَ يا منصور منصور

وإنَّما أنتَ يا منصور منصور

The victory concerning you is his, as is all goodness;

Victory in your cause is his, and all goodness too,

Victory and all good are his regarding you,

And you, O Mansur, are indeed granted victory.

and you, Mansur, are indeed victorious.

For you, oh Victorious One, are made victorious.
