نُهَنِّي العراقَ بحكمٍ جديدْ

نُهَنِّي العراقَ بحكمٍ جديدْ

وسُرَّ الحجازُ برأيٍ سديدْ

We congratulate Iraq on a new rule,

And the Hijaz was gladdened by sound counsel,

بحكمِ الرَّشيدِ مشيرِ العراق

بحكمِ الرَّشيدِ مشيرِ العراق

ملاذ الطريد مجيرِ الرَّشيدْ

ملاذ الطريد مجيرِ الرَّشيدْ

Under the rule of al-Rashid, marshal of Iraq,

Refuge of the fugitive, protector of the rightly guided.

مشيرٌ إذا استمطر البارقات

مشيرٌ إذا استمطر البارقات

أغاثَ الأنام بِوَدْق الحديدْ

أغاثَ الأنام بِوَدْق الحديدْ

A marshal who, when he calls down rain from flashing blades,

Brings humankind relief with a downpour of iron.

حميدٌ كجيدٌ لقد خصَّه

حميدٌ كجيدٌ لقد خصَّه

بأهْلِ العراقِ الحميدُ المجيدْ

بأهْلِ العراقِ الحميدُ المجيدْ

Praiseworthy, [word unclear]—indeed, he was singled out

For the people of Iraq by the Praiseworthy, the Glorious.

فنامَتْ به فِتَنٌ بأسُها

فنامَتْ به فِتَنٌ بأسُها

يُبيدُ الطريفَ ويُفني التليدْ

يُبيدُ الطريفَ ويُفني التليدْ

Thus, through him, tumults fell asleep, whose fury

Destroys newly acquired wealth and annihilates inherited wealth.

وقد أقبلَ السَّعْدُ إذ أرَّخوا

وقد أقبلَ السَّعْدُ إذ أرَّخوا

أمامَ المشير محمَّدْ رشيدْ

And indeed, good fortune arrived when they recorded the date

Before the marshal Muhammad Rashid.
