With the bouquet of hope I extended my hand,

With a long arm, nay a broad elbow.

Born from the Messenger of God a cub,

I loved the path of his revered presence through direct sight,
I loved his path, seeing plainly,
while others love through hearsay.
While others love by hearsay,

With remembrance of his majesty and exalted rank, we walk
By mention of his majesty and sublimity we walk
gently over the fangs of vipers.
Slowly over the fangs of serpents.

His pure water quenches my thirst,

And I did not care about barking and grinding,
for that rock fell from the heights.
For that rock collapsed from burrowing.

and my succor when urgent needs multiply.
And my succor if misfortunes proliferate,

O Abu al-‘Alamayn, our master for whom we would give our lives,
O father of the two knowledges, our master the redeemer,

I came to you as a visitor, seeking acceptance;
I came to you a visitor, desiring acceptance,
for through you I seek access, and to you I devote myself wholly.
For in you is my attainment and to you my devotion.

So my hopes did not lie in what I wished,
nor did those endeavors fail us.
Nor were those aspirations disappointed in us.

Yours are the resolves to which the adversary testified,
To you belong the resolves which even enemies

Testified to, since there is no way to defend against them.

We are safe in its protection from loss.

This, then, is a refuge: whoever settles in it
So this is refuge, whoever enters it,

By which rubbing the gardens call.

And its tears flowed without restraint.

I would seek the impossible by that.

Go gently and rejoice, do not be wary,
