هذا البناءُ الَّذي محمودُ أنْشَأهُ

هذا البناءُ الَّذي محمودُ أنْشَأهُ

وزانَه زُخْرُفُ زاهٍ وتشييدُ

وزانَه زُخْرُفُ زاهٍ وتشييدُ

This is the building that Mahmoud raised,

This building, which Mahmoud erected,

adorned by brilliant ornament and solid workmanship.

Was graced by resplendent ornament and stately construction.

فجاءَ في غاية الإتقان منتزهاً

فجاءَ في غاية الإتقان منتزهاً

فيه السُّرور وفيه الأنْس موجود

فيه السُّرور وفيه الأنْس موجود

It emerged, perfected to the utmost, a place of delight,

So it became a pleasure retreat of consummate craftsmanship,

where joy resides and warm companionship is found.

Where joy and companionship are found.

لا يسمع المرءُ في مغناه لاغيةً

لا يسمع المرءُ في مغناه لاغيةً

وطائر اليمن في مغناه غرّيد

وطائر اليمن في مغناه غرّيد

No one hears an idle word within its precincts,

No one hears idle talk in his abode,

and the bird of Yemen—of good fortune—warbles there.

And the bird of good fortune sings sweetly in his abode.

آل المبارك لا زالت مباركة

آل المبارك لا زالت مباركة

لكم منازل فيها الفضل مشهود

لكم منازل فيها الفضل مشهود

House of al-Mubarak, may you never cease to be blessed;

O family of al-Mubarak, may they ever remain blessed—

yours are dwellings where excellence stands attested.

Your dwellings, where excellence is manifest.

قد أسعدَ الله أرضاً تنزلون بها

قد أسعدَ الله أرضاً تنزلون بها

ومنزل السعد في أهليه مسعود

ومنزل السعد في أهليه مسعود

God has blessed the land in which you make your home,

God has indeed brought good fortune to a land where you dwell,

and the house of happiness is happy in its people.

And the home of good fortune is fortunate in its inhabitants.

فقلْ لأحبابنا زوروه وانبسطوا

فقلْ لأحبابنا زوروه وانبسطوا

فيه ومن بعدها إنْ شئتم عودوا

فيه ومن بعدها إنْ شئتم عودوا

So tell our loved ones: Visit it and be at ease

So tell our loved ones: Visit it and enjoy yourselves

within it; then afterward, return whenever you wish.

Within it; and afterward, if you wish, return.

من زارنا فهوَ في خيرٍ وفي دَعةٍ

من زارنا فهوَ في خيرٍ وفي دَعةٍ

ولم يَفُتْه بحول الله مقصود

ولم يَفُتْه بحول الله مقصود

Whoever visits us enjoys prosperity and ease,

Whoever visits us enjoys well-being and repose,

and, by God’s power, no desire of his goes unfulfilled.

And, by God's power, no wish of his goes unfulfilled.

يا حبّذا ذلك الباني وبنْيَتُه

يا حبّذا ذلك الباني وبنْيَتُه

فللمسرّات في ناديه تجديد

فللمسرّات في ناديه تجديد

How delightful is that builder—and the building he has built!

Oh, how splendid are that builder and his building!

For joys are ever renewed in his gathering place.

لذاك في ذلك التاريخ قيلَ له

لذاك في ذلك التاريخ قيلَ له

هذا مقامُك يا محمودُ محمود

هذا مقامُك يا محمودُ محمود

Thus, for its date, this was said to him:

For that reason, in that chronogram, it was said to him:

This is your abode, O Mahmoud—praised.

This abode of yours, O Mahmoud, is praiseworthy.
