فدموعي بانسكابٍ

وفؤادي باتّقاد

قرَّبوا منِّي تَلافي

يومَ جَدُّوا بالبعاد

They brought my death close to me

the day they resolved to go far away.

the day they pressed ahead with departure.

وأرادوا بنواهم

في الهوى غيرَ مرادي

في الهوى غيرَ مرادي

By their departure they desired,

And through their departure they desired

in love, what I did not desire.

حانَ حَيني يا رفيقيَّ

وأبناءَ ودادي

My appointed death has come, O my two companions,

من نعيمٍ لعُيوني

you who are bliss to my eyes
