Sol 6.1

  1. يا إمام الهدى ويا صفوة الله

    ويا من هَدَى هُداه العبادا

    O Imam of guidance, and O chosen one of God,

    And O you whose guidance guided the servants,

  2. يا ابن بنتِ الرسول يا ابن عليٍّ

    حيّ هذا النادي وهذا المنادى

    O son of the Messenger's daughter, O son of Ali,

    Hail this assembly and this one invoked.

  3. قد أتينا بثوب جدّك نسعى

    وأتيناك سيّدي وفّادا

    We have come with your grandfather's robe, hastening,

    And we have come to you, my master, as visitors.

  4. فأتيناك راجلين احتراماً

    واحتشاماً وهيبة وانقيادا

    So we came to you on foot, out of respect,

    And modesty, awe, and submission.

  5. نتهادى به إليك جميعاً

    وبه كانت المطايا تهادى

    We all move gently with it toward you,

    And with it the mounts swayed along,

  6. راميات سهم النوى عن قسيٍّ

    قاطعات دكادكاً ووهادا

    Shooting the arrow of separation from bows,

    Crossing sandy flats and hollows,

  7. طالبات موسى بن جعفر فيه

    وكذا القدوة الإمام الجوادا

    Seeking there Musa ibn Ja'far,

    And likewise the exemplar, Imam al-Jawad.

  8. من نبيٍّ قد شَرَّف العرشَ لمَّا

    أن ترقَّى بالله سَبعاً شدادا

    From a Prophet who ennobled the Throne when

    By God's aid he ascended seven mighty heavens.

  9. شرف في ثياب قبر نبيّ

    عَطَّرتْ في ورودها بغدادا

    Honor lies in the coverings of a Prophet's tomb,

    Which perfumed Baghdad upon their arrival.

  10. ومزايا الفخار أورثتموها

    شرف الجد يورث الأولادا

    And the distinctions of glory were bequeathed to you;

    A grandfather's honor passes down to his children.

  11. أنتم عِلَّةُ الوجود وفيكم

    قد عَرَفنا التكوين والإيجادا

    You are the cause of existence, and in you

    We have come to know creation and the bringing into being.

  12. ما ركنتم إلى نفائس دنيا

    ولقد كنتم بها أفرادا

    You did not incline toward this world's treasures,

    And indeed you were peerless in it.

  13. وانتقلتم منها وأنتم أناس

    ما اتخذتم إلاَّ رضا الله زادا

    And you departed from it as people

    Who took nothing but God's pleasure as provision.

  14. ولقد قمتمُ الليالي قياماً

    واكتحلتم من القيام السهادا

    And indeed you stood through the nights in prayer,

    And made the sleeplessness of prayer your kohl.

  15. إن يكونوا كما أذاعوا فمن ذا

    مهّد الأرض سطوة والبلادا

    If they are as they have proclaimed, then who

    Subdued the earth and the lands by might,

  16. ومحا الشرك بالمواضي غزاةً

    وسطا سطوة الأسوة جهادا

    And, as warriors, erased idolatry with keen blades,

    And struck with the exemplar's force in struggle for the faith?

  17. حيث إنَّ الإله يرضى بهذا

    بل بهذا من القديم أرادا

    Since God is pleased with this,

    Rather, He willed this from of old.

  18. فجزيتم عن أجركم بنعيم

    تتوالى الأرواح والأجسادا

    So you were rewarded with bliss as your recompense;

    Souls and bodies succeed one another.

  19. وابتغيتم رضا الإله ولا ز

    لتمُ بعزٍّ يصاحب الآبادا

    And you sought God's pleasure; may you ever

    Remain in glory that accompanies the ages.

  20. أنتم يا بني البتول أناسٌ

    قد صَعَدْتُم بالفجر سبعاً شدادا

    You, O sons of al-Batul, are people

    Who have ascended with the dawn through seven mighty heavens.

  21. آل بيت النبيّ والسادة الطُّ

    هْرِ رجال لم يبرحوا أمجادا

    The Prophet's household and the lords, the

    Pure—men who have never ceased to be illustrious.

  22. فَضَلوا بالفضائل الخلق طرًّا

    مثلما تَفْضلُ الظبا الأغمادا

    They surpassed all creation in virtues,

    Just as sword edges surpass their sheaths.

  23. ليس يحصي عليهم المدح منِّي

    ولو أنَّ البحار صارت مدادا

    My praise cannot count all their merits,

    Even if the seas became ink.

  24. أنتم الذخر يوم حشر ونشر

    ومعاذاً إذا رأينا المعادا

    You are the treasure on the day of gathering and resurrection,

    And a refuge when we behold the final return.

  25. كاظم الغيظ سالم الصدر عافٍ

    وما هوى قطّ صدره الأحقادا

    Restraining anger, pure of heart, forgiving,

    And his breast has never cherished grudges.

  26. قد وقفنا لدى علاك وأل

    قينا إلى بابك الرفيع القيادا

    We have stood before your exalted station and

    Cast the reins toward your lofty gate.

  27. مع أنَّ الذنوب قد أوثقتنا

    نرتجي الوعد نختشي الإبعادا

    Although sins have bound us fast,

    We hope for the promise and fear being turned away.

  28. ومددنا إليك أيدي محتاج

    يرجِّي بفضلك الإمدادا

    And we stretched toward you the hands of one in need,

    Who hopes for help through your bounty.

  29. وبكينا من الخشوع بدمع

    هو طوراً وطوراً فرادى

    And we wept out of humility, with tears,

    It falls at times, and at times in single drops.

  30. قد وَفَدنا آل النبيَّ عليكم

    زوّدونا من رفدكم إرفادا

    We have come to you, household of the Prophet;

    Supply us with aid from your bounty.

  31. لليالي قياماً

    واكتحلتم من القيام السهادا

    Standing in prayer through the nights,

    And made the sleeplessness of prayer your kohl.

  32. بسواد الذنوب جئنا لنمحو

    ببياض الغفران هذا السوادا

    With the blackness of sins we came to erase

    This blackness with the whiteness of forgiveness.

  33. وطلبنا عفو المهيمن عنَّا

    وأغظنا الأعداء والإلحادا

    And we sought the Guardian's pardon for us,

    And we enraged the enemies and unbelief.

  34. موطن تنزل الملائك فيه

    ومقام يَسُرُّ هذا الفؤادا

    An abode where the angels descend,

    And a station that gladdens this heart.

  35. أيُّها الطاهر الزكيّ أغِثْنا

    وأنِلْنا الإسعاف والإسعادا

    O pure, righteous one, come to our aid,

    And grant us succor and happiness.

  36. وعليٌّ أباك يا ابن عليّ

    كي ينال المنى بكم والمرادا

    And Ali, your father, O son of Ali,

    So that he may attain his wishes and desire through you,

  37. مستزيداً بفضلكم حيث كنتم

    منهلاً ما استزيد إلاَّ وزادا

    Seeking more through your bounty, since you have been

    A spring never asked for more without giving more.

  38. فعليك السلام يا خيرة الخلق

    سلامٌ يبقى ويأبى النفادا

    So peace be upon you, O choicest of creation,

    A peace that endures and refuses to end.
