لِيَهْنِك يا نحير أهلِ زمانِهِ

لِيَهْنِك يا نحير أهلِ زمانِهِ

ويا كاملاً عنه غدا الطرف قاصرا

ويا كاملاً عنه غدا الطرف قاصرا

May you rejoice, O learned master among your contemporaries,

May he outshine the eminent men of his time,

And O perfect one, before whom the gaze falls short,

And surpass the perfect ones who came before.

يا منبعاً للجود والفضل والندى

يا منبعاً للجود والفضل والندى

ومن لم يزل بحراً من العلم زاخرا

ومن لم يزل بحراً من العلم زاخرا

O wellspring of generosity, virtue, and bounty,

O spring of generosity, grace, and dew,

And you who have ever been a brimming sea of knowledge,

An ocean of knowledge that flows and pours.

ويا من يحلّ المشكلات بذهنه

ويا من يحلّ المشكلات بذهنه

وأفكاره رأياً تحير البصائرا

وأفكاره رأياً تحير البصائرا

And O you who resolve difficulties with your mind,

With his mind he solves the most complex affairs,

And whose thoughts, in judgment, bewilder discerning minds,

His thoughts astonish all seers with their flare.

بطفل زكيّ قد أتاك وإنّما

بطفل زكيّ قد أتاك وإنّما

يضاهيك بالأخلاق سرًّا وظاهرا

يضاهيك بالأخلاق سرًّا وظاهرا

In a pure child who has come to you, and who indeed

A bright child has come to you, and though

Matches you in character, inwardly and outwardly.

In morals secretly and openly he compares.

وبشرتني فيه فقلت مؤرخاً

وبشرتني فيه فقلت مؤرخاً

بمولد عبد الله نلت البشايرا

بمولد عبد الله نلت البشايرا

And you gave me glad news of him, so I said, recording the date:

You brought me good news of him, and so

With the birth of Abdullah, I received glad tidings.

I record Abdullah's birth, glad tidings I share.
