A lord from the illustrious sons of Hashim has passed away.

And a lord kept lamenting glory over him.

To the Garden of Refuge (reading uncertain), to pardon and favor,

To God's mercy, which is ever renewed.

And when we lost him, we wept for his loss,

And indeed, rare is one who is mourned and missed.

Knowledge and kindness wept—record the date of both—

For a grave in which al-Amin Muhammad came to rest.
