نَقيبٌ من الأَشراف أَكرمُ سيِّدٍ

نَقيبٌ من الأَشراف أَكرمُ سيِّدٍ

من الآلِ من بَيْت النُّبُوَّةِ آلُهُ

من الآلِ من بَيْت النُّبُوَّةِ آلُهُ

A chief among the Prophet’s descendants, the noblest of masters,

A chief among the sharifs, the noblest of lords;

A noble one from the nobility, most generous lord

Of the Prophet’s Family—his lineage is from the House of Prophethood.

Of the Prophet’s family—his kin are of the house of prophethood.

From the family, from the house of prophecy, his family

قضى عُمْرَهُ بالخير والبرّ كلّه

قضى عُمْرَهُ بالخير والبرّ كلّه

ولاذ بعفو الله جلَّ جلالُهُ

ولاذ بعفو الله جلَّ جلالُهُ

He spent his whole life in goodness and righteousness,

He spent his whole life in goodness and righteousness,

He spent his life in all goodness and righteousness

And sought refuge in the pardon of God—exalted is His majesty.

And sought refuge in God’s pardon—exalted be His majesty.

And took refuge in God's great forgiveness, His majesty

تَنَقَّلَ من دارِ الفَناء فأرِّخوا

تَنَقَّلَ من دارِ الفَناء فأرِّخوا

عَليًّا وللجنَّات كانَ انتقالُهُ

عَليًّا وللجنَّات كانَ انتقالُهُ

He passed from this perishing abode; so inscribe the date:

He departed the abode of mortality; so record the date:

He moved from the abode of annihilation, so record

“Ali—his passage was unto the Gardens.”

Ali—and to the Gardens was his departure.

Ali, for paradise was his destination
