الحمد للّه تعظيما وإجلالا

ما أقبل اليسر بعد العسر إقبالا

ما أقبل اليسر بعد العسر إقبالا

Praise be to God, in reverence and veneration,

Praise be to God in glorification and reverence,

whenever ease comes sweeping in after hardship,

For how ease has come forth after hardship with such welcome.

وما أتت نفحاتُ المسك ناسخة

وما أتت نفحاتُ المسك ناسخة

من المكاره أنواعاً وأشكالا

من المكاره أنواعاً وأشكالا

and whenever wafts of musk arrive, wiping away

And how the wafts of musk arrived, abrogating

kinds and forms of affliction.

All manner and forms of adversity.

وأشكر اللّه إذ لم ينصرم أجلي

وأشكر اللّه إذ لم ينصرم أجلي

حتى وصلتُ بأهل الدين إيصالا

حتى وصلتُ بأهل الدين إيصالا

And I thank God that my allotted life did not end

I thank God that my time did not expire

before I was firmly joined to the people of faith.

Before I was fully joined with the people of faith.

وامتدّ عمري إلى أن نلت من سندي

وامتدّ عمري إلى أن نلت من سندي

خليفة اللّه أفياء وأظلالا

خليفة اللّه أفياء وأظلالا

And my life was prolonged until I gained from my mainstay—

My life stretched on until I attained, from my support,

God's caliph—shade and shadows.

The Vicegerent of God—my shelter and shade.

فاللّه أكرمني حقّاً وأسعدني

فاللّه أكرمني حقّاً وأسعدني

وحطّ عني أوزاراً وأثقالا

وحطّ عني أوزاراً وأثقالا

For God has truly honored me and made me happy,

For God has truly honored me and granted me happiness,

and lifted burdens and heavy loads from me.

And lifted from me burdens and heavy loads.

قد طال ما طمحت نفسي وما ظفرت

قد طال ما طمحت نفسي وما ظفرت

لكنّ للوصل أوقاتا وآجالا

لكنّ للوصل أوقاتا وآجالا

Long had my soul aspired without success;

Long has my soul yearned without attaining its desire,

but union has its appointed times and terms.

But for union there are appointed times and terms.

اسكن فؤادي وقرّ الآن في جسدي

اسكن فؤادي وقرّ الآن في جسدي

فقد وصلت بحزب اللّه أحبالا

فقد وصلت بحزب اللّه أحبالا

Be still, my heart, and settle now within my body,

Be still, my heart, and rest easy now within my body,

for you have bound your cords to God's company.

For you have connected your cords with the Party of God.

هذا المرام الذي قد كنت تأمله

هذا المرام الذي قد كنت تأمله

فطب مآلا بلقياه وطب حالا

فطب مآلا بلقياه وطب حالا

This is the goal that you had hoped for;

This is the aspiration for which you had hoped,

so fare well in your outcome through attaining it, and fare well in your present state.

So rejoice in the outcome of meeting him, and rejoice in your state.

وعش هنئيا فأنت اليوم آمن من

وعش هنئيا فأنت اليوم آمن من

حمام مكة إحراماً وإحلالا

حمام مكة إحراماً وإحلالا

And live happily, for today you are safer than

Live in contentment, for today you are more secure

the doves of Mecca, in consecration and out of it.

Than the doves of Mecca, whether in sanctity or release.

فأنت تحت لواء المجد مغتبطٌ

فأنت تحت لواء المجد مغتبطٌ

في حضرة جمعت فطبا وأبدالا

في حضرة جمعت فطبا وأبدالا

For you are beneath the banner of glory, rejoicing,

You are beneath the banner of glory, filled with joy,

in a court that has gathered a spiritual pole and substitute saints.

In a presence that gathers the spiritual Poles and the Saints.

وته دلالا وهزّ العطف من طرب

وته دلالا وهزّ العطف من طرب

و غنّ وارقص وجر الذيل مختالا

و غنّ وارقص وجر الذيل مختالا

And strut in coy pride, and sway your side in rapture;

Walk with pride, sway your shoulders in rapture,

and sing, dance, and trail your hem, swaggering.

Sing, dance, and trail your robes in distinctive swagger.

أمنت من كلّ مكروه ومظلمة

أمنت من كلّ مكروه ومظلمة

فبُح بما شئت تفصيلا وإجمالا

فبُح بما شئت تفصيلا وإجمالا

You are safe from every harm and injustice,

You are secure from every hateful thing and injustice,

so speak freely of whatever you wish, in detail and in summary.

So speak whatever you wish, in detail or in brief.

هذا مقام التهاني قد حللت به

هذا مقام التهاني قد حللت به

فارتع ولا تخش بعد اليوم أنكالا

فارتع ولا تخش بعد اليوم أنكالا

This is the place of felicitations, where you have alighted;

This is the station of congratulations where you have alighted,

so roam freely, and fear no fetters after today.

So roam freely, and fear no shackles after this day.

أبشر بقرب أمير المؤمنين ومن

أبشر بقرب أمير المؤمنين ومن

قد أكمل اللّه فيه الدين إكمالا

قد أكمل اللّه فيه الدين إكمالا

Rejoice in nearness to the Commander of the Faithful, and to the one

Rejoice in the proximity of the Commander of the Faithful,

in whom God has brought the faith to full perfection.

Through whom God has brought the faith to perfection.

عبد المجيد حوى مجدا وعز على

عبد المجيد حوى مجدا وعز على

وجلّ قدرا كما قد عمّ أنوالا

وجلّ قدرا كما قد عمّ أنوالا

ʿAbd al-Majīd has gained glory, grown mighty, and risen high,

Abd al-Majid, who encompasses glory and has risen high,

and grown great in rank, as he has spread gifts far and wide.

Majestic in rank, just as his favors are universal.

كهف الخلافة كافيها وكافلها

كهف الخلافة كافيها وكافلها

وما عهدنا له في القرن أمثالا

وما عهدنا له في القرن أمثالا

He is the refuge of the caliphate, its sustainer and guardian;

The Sanctuary of the Caliphate, its guardian and guarantor;

and we have known no equals to him in this age.

We have known none like him in this age.

يا رب فاشدد على الأعداء وطأته

يا رب فاشدد على الأعداء وطأته

واحم حماه وزده منك إجلالا

واحم حماه وزده منك إجلالا

O Lord, make his tread heavy upon the enemies;

O Lord, make heavy his tread upon the enemies,

and protect his domain, and grant him greater honor from You.

Protect his domain, and increase him in reverence from You.

وأظهرن حزبه في كل متّجه

وأظهرن حزبه في كل متّجه

وسددن منه أوقالا وأفعالا

وسددن منه أوقالا وأفعالا

And make his company victorious in every direction,

Grant victory to his faction in every direction,

and set his words and deeds aright.

And guide his every word and deed to rectitude.

وابسط يديه على الغبراء قاطبة

وابسط يديه على الغبراء قاطبة

وذلّلن كل من في الأرض إذلالا

وذلّلن كل من في الأرض إذلالا

And spread his two hands over the whole dust-colored earth,

Extend his authority over the entire earth,

and utterly subdue all who are upon the earth.

And bring all upon it into humble submission.

فالمسلمون بأرض الغرب شاخصةٌ

فالمسلمون بأرض الغرب شاخصةٌ

أبصارهم نحوه يرجون إقبالا

أبصارهم نحوه يرجون إقبالا

For the Muslims in the land of the West have fixed

For the eyes of Muslims in the lands of the West

their eyes upon him, hoping for his favorable regard.

Are fixed upon him, hoping for his approach.

كم ساهر يرتجى نوما بطلعته

كم ساهر يرتجى نوما بطلعته

وحائر يرتجي للحزن تسهالا

وحائر يرتجي للحزن تسهالا

How many a sleepless one hopes for sleep at his appearance,

How many sleepless souls hope for rest through his appearing,

and a bewildered one hopes for an easing of sorrow.

And how many bewildered hearts hope for their sorrow to ease.

فرع الخلائف وابن الأكرمين ومن

فرع الخلائف وابن الأكرمين ومن

شدوا عرى الدين أركانا وأطلالا

شدوا عرى الدين أركانا وأطلالا

A scion of the caliphs, son of the noblest, and of those

Scion of Caliphs, son of the most noble,

who tightened the bonds of faith, its pillars and standing remnants.

Those who fortified the bonds of faith, its pillars and its courts.

كم أزمة فرجوا كم غمة كشفوا

كم أزمة فرجوا كم غمة كشفوا

كم فككوا عن رقاب الخلق أغلالا

كم فككوا عن رقاب الخلق أغلالا

How many a crisis they relieved, how many a gloom they dispelled;

How many crises they relieved, how much gloom they dispelled,

how many shackles they loosened from the necks of humankind.

How many shackles they struck from the necks of the people.

هم رحمة لبني الإيمان قاطبةً

هم رحمة لبني الإيمان قاطبةً

هم الوقاية أسواء وأهوالا

هم الوقاية أسواء وأهوالا

They are a mercy to all the children of faith,

They are a mercy to all the children of faith;

they are protection against evils and terrors.

They are the shield against evils and terrors.

أنصار دين النبي من بعد غيبته

أنصار دين النبي من بعد غيبته

في نصره بذلوا نفسا وأموالا

في نصره بذلوا نفسا وأموالا

Defenders of the Prophet's faith after his departure,

Helpers of the Prophet’s religion after his departure,

they sacrificed life and wealth in its support.

Sacrificing life and wealth in its defense.

قد خصّهم ربهم في خير منقبة

قد خصّهم ربهم في خير منقبة

ما خصّ صحبا بها قبلا ولا آلا

ما خصّ صحبا بها قبلا ولا آلا

Their Lord singled them out for the finest distinction,

Their Lord distinguished them with the finest merit,

one He had not granted before to companions or kin.

A virtue bestowed on neither Companion nor Kin before.

كم حاول الصحب والآل الكرام لها

كم حاول الصحب والآل الكرام لها

واللّه يختصّ من قد شاء أفضالا

واللّه يختصّ من قد شاء أفضالا

How often the noble Companions and family strove for it,

How often the noble Companions and Kin strove for it,

and God singles out whomever He wills for favors.

But God singles out whom He wills for His bounty.

ما زال في كل عصر منهم خلفٌ

ما زال في كل عصر منهم خلفٌ

يحمي الشريعة قوّالا وفعّالا

يحمي الشريعة قوّالا وفعّالا

In every age there has always been a successor among them,

In every age, a successor rises from among them,

guarding the Sacred Law, vigorous in word and deed,

Defending the Sacred Law with word and with deed.

حتى أتى دهرنا في خير منتخب

حتى أتى دهرنا في خير منتخب

من آل عثمان أملاكاً وأقيالا

من آل عثمان أملاكاً وأقيالا

until our age came with the finest chosen one

Until our era arrived with the choicest of the chosen,

from the House of ʿUthmān, among kings and princes.

From the House of Osman, kings and sovereigns.

قد كنت مضمر خفضٍ ثم أكسبني

قد كنت مضمر خفضٍ ثم أكسبني

رفعا وقد عمني جوداً وأفضالا

رفعا وقد عمني جوداً وأفضالا

I had been a hidden pronoun in abasement; then he granted me

I was like a noun in the state of lowering, then he granted me

elevation, and encompassed me with generosity and favors.

Elevation, encompassing me with generosity and grace.

وبالاضافة بعد القطع عرّفني

وبالاضافة بعد القطع عرّفني

وحطّ عنّي تصغيراً وإعلالا

وحطّ عنّي تصغيراً وإعلالا

And through attachment after severance, he made me known,

Through annexation after severance, he gave me definition,

and removed belittlement and infirmity from me.

And stripped away my diminutive state and my infirmity.

هذا وحق علاه كم أزاح وكم

هذا وحق علاه كم أزاح وكم

أزال عنّي بمحض الفضل أثقالا

أزال عنّي بمحض الفضل أثقالا

So it is; by the honor of his high rank, how many he lifted, and how many

This—by the truth of his eminence—is how much he displaced,

burdens he removed from me through sheer grace.

And how many heavy loads he removed from me by sheer grace.

لا زال تخدمه نفسي وأمدحه

لا زال تخدمه نفسي وأمدحه

مستغرق الدهر أبكاراً وآصالا

مستغرق الدهر أبكاراً وآصالا

May my soul never cease to serve him, and may I praise him

My soul shall never cease to serve and praise him,

throughout all time, in the mornings and evenings.

Immersed throughout time, from dawn until dusk.

أهدي مديحي وحمدي ما حييت له

أهدي مديحي وحمدي ما حييت له

أفادني أنعما جلّت وإقبالا

أفادني أنعما جلّت وإقبالا

I offer him my praise and thanks as long as I live;

I dedicate my praise and thanks to him as long as I live,

he bestowed on me great blessings and favor.

For the majestic blessings and favor he has bestowed.

جزاه عنّي إله العرش أفضل ما

جزاه عنّي إله العرش أفضل ما

جزا به محسنا يوما ومفضالا

جزا به محسنا يوما ومفضالا

May the God of the Throne reward him on my behalf with the best that

May the God of the Throne reward him on my behalf,

He has ever bestowed on a benefactor and a generous giver.

With the best reward ever granted to a benefactor and giver.
