يا قرّة العين عني أن سألت جوى

يا قرّة العين عني أن سألت جوى

قد بتّ في ألم من شدة الوهن

O delight of my eyes, if you ask about my anguish:

O solace of my eyes, should you ask of my burning affliction,

Indeed, I spent the night in pain from severe weakness.

I have passed the night in pain from the severity of frailty,

أكابد الضر والاجفان ساهرةٌ

أكابد الضر والاجفان ساهرةٌ

هيهات ما ذاق طرفي لذّة الوسن

هيهات ما ذاق طرفي لذّة الوسن

I endure affliction, and my eyelids are sleepless.

Enduring distress, while my eyelids remain wakeful,

Far from it! My eye has not tasted the pleasure of slumber.

Alas, my gaze has not tasted the pleasure of slumber.

والآن لم أك مثل الليل يا سندي

والآن لم أك مثل الليل يا سندي

الحمد للّه ربي واهب المنن

الحمد للّه ربي واهب المنن

And now I am not as I was during the night, O my support.

But now I am not as I was in the night, O my support,

Praise be to God, my Lord, the bestower of blessings.

جزاكم اللّه عنا كل مكرمةٍ

من فضله ووقاكم سائر المحن

From His bounty, and protect you from all trials.
