واللفظ والملحوظ واللالحظُ

You are what is uttered and the utterer,

You are the utterer and the non-utterer

and utterance, what is observed, and the observer,

And the utterance and the observed and the non-observed

واللحظ والمعلوم والعالم

واللحظ والمعلوم والعالم

والعلم والمحفوظ والحافظ

والعلم والمحفوظ والحافظ

and observation, what is known, and the knower,

And the moment and the known and the knower

and knowledge, what is preserved, and the preserver,

And the knowledge and the preserved and the preserver

والحفظ والمأكول والآكل

والحفظ والمأكول والآكل

والأكل والمجهوظ والجاهظ

والأكل والمجهوظ والجاهظ

and preservation, what is eaten, and the eater,

And the preservation and the eaten and the eater

and eating, the one driven away, and the one who drives away,

And the eating and the imagined and the imaginer

وكل ما يدرك بالعقل وال

وكل ما يدرك بالعقل وال

عقل ومن يغتاظ والغائظ

عقل ومن يغتاظ والغائظ

and all that is apprehended by the intellect, and the—

And all that is comprehended by the intellect and the

intellect, and whoever grows angry, and the one who provokes anger,

Intellect and whoever is enraged and the enraged one

والحس والمحسوس والوهم وال

والحس والمحسوس والوهم وال

موهوم بل والوعظ والواعظ

موهوم بل والوعظ والواعظ

and sensation, what is sensed, imagination, and the—

And the senses and the sensed and the fancy and the

imagined—nay, also admonition and the admonisher.

Fancied, rather even the sermon and the preacher

مراتب قام وجود بها

مراتب قام وجود بها

حق على تغييرها واقظ

حق على تغييرها واقظ

Degrees in which an existence subsists,

Are degrees that have stood in existence

real, forceful in bringing about their change.

With the True having power over changing them and watching over them

وهو وجود مطلق ثابت

وهو وجود مطلق ثابت

قد حار فيه السعد والجاحظ

قد حار فيه السعد والجاحظ

And it is absolute, abiding existence,

And He is absolute existence, fixed

about which Saʿd and al-Jāḥiẓ have been bewildered,

The fortunate and the scrutinizer have been perplexed by Him

والأوليا والأنبيا كلهم

والأوليا والأنبيا كلهم

والحيّ في تحقيقه الفائظ

والحيّ في تحقيقه الفائظ

and all the saints and prophets,

And all the saints and prophets

and the living one who dies in realizing it.

And the Living in realizing Him the surpassing one
