You are an imaginal human being;

you have an intellect like a tether.

You are a body made of dust,

within it, a radiant spirit.

أنت في أنت كثيف

أنت في أنت كثيف

في لطيف الروح عالي

في لطيف الروح عالي

You, in your 'you,' are dense;

in the spirit’s subtle essence, exalted.

ليس في الخارج شيءٌ

ليس في الخارج شيءٌ

منك بل لمعة آل

منك بل لمعة آل

There is nothing in the outer world

of you—only the gleam of a mirage.

إنما الخارج حقٌّ

إنما الخارج حقٌّ

أمرُ رب متعالي

أمرُ رب متعالي

What is external is only the Real,

the command of a transcendent Lord.

وكذاك الخلق طراً

وكذاك الخلق طراً

من نساء ورجال

من نساء ورجال

And likewise all creation,

including women and men,

وسموات وأرض

وسموات وأرض

وبحار وجبال

وبحار وجبال

and heavens and earth,

and seas and mountains—

كلهم عندك في صف

كلهم عندك في صف

حة مرآة الخيال

حة مرآة الخيال

all of them, to you, are on the sur-

face of imagination’s mirror:

صوَرٌ تبدو وتخفى

صوَرٌ تبدو وتخفى

وهو حق في المجالي

وهو حق في المجالي

images that appear and disappear,

while He is the Real in the manifestations.

فتحقق بك وافهم

فتحقق بك وافهم

قبل محو وزوال

قبل محو وزوال

So attain realization through yourself, and understand,

before effacement and passing away.

واعرف المعروف تنجو

واعرف المعروف تنجو

من تناويع الضلال

من تناويع الضلال

And know the Known: you will be saved

from the varied forms of error.
