عبادة للغافلين تكليفُ

عبادة للغافلين تكليفُ

وعلمهم بالإله تكييفُ

وعلمهم بالإله تكييفُ

Worship for the heedless is an imposed duty,

Worship for the heedless is an obligation,

And their knowledge of God ascribes a “how” to Him.

And their knowledge of God, an adaptation.

كما عبودية الذين على

صراطه سالكون تعريف

صراطه سالكون تعريف

Likewise, the servanthood of those who, upon

Just as the worship of those on

His path, journey, brings knowledge of Him.

His path, the followers, is an introduction.

وعارفو ربهم عبودتهم

وعارفو ربهم عبودتهم

بربهم رفعة وتشريف

بربهم رفعة وتشريف

And those who know their Lord—their servitude

And those who know their Lord, their worship of Him

Through their Lord is elevation and honor.

Is an exaltation and glorification of their Lord.

عليك فالزم طريقنا لترى

عليك فالزم طريقنا لترى

ما قد رأينا إلامَ تسويف

ما قد رأينا إلامَ تسويف

You must therefore keep to our path, that you may see

So join our path, that you may see

What we have already seen—how long this delay?

What we have seen, not mere procrastination.

واهرب إلينا ودع حواسدنا

واهرب إلينا ودع حواسدنا

ولا تُميلَنَّك الأراجيف

ولا تُميلَنَّك الأراجيف

And flee to us, and leave those who envy us,

And flee to us and leave those who envy us

And never let false rumors sway you.

And let not rumors sway you.

إن الذي نحن أهله حرم

إن الذي نحن أهله حرم

أمن وما في ذراه تخويف

أمن وما في ذراه تخويف

Indeed, that to which we belong is a sanctuary

What we, the people of it, have forbidden

Of safety, with nothing in its shelter to cause fear.

Is safety, and there is no frightening thing in its precincts.

الله الله لا سواه فما

الله الله لا سواه فما

لغيره في الأنام تصريف

لغيره في الأنام تصريف

God, God—none but Him; for there is no

God, God, there is none but Him, so

Power to govern among created beings for any other.

None other than Him has any redirection among the people.

ونحن لا نحن فالوجود له

ونحن لا نحن فالوجود له

والحكم منه عليه توقيف

والحكم منه عليه توقيف

And we are not we, for existence is His;

And we are not we, so existence is His

And judgment comes from Him; concerning Him, it rests on His instruction.

And the decree is from Him, a designation.

وكل شيء فالعلم ترتيب

وكل شيء فالعلم ترتيب

له بأحكامه وتصفيف

له بأحكامه وتصفيف

And for every thing, knowledge is an ordering

And everything, so knowledge is the arrangement

Of it according to its laws, and an arrangement in ranks.

For it through His rulings and categorization.

وهو الذي قامت السماء به

وهو الذي قامت السماء به

والأرض للكل منه تأليف

والأرض للكل منه تأليف

And He is the One through whom the sky stands,

And He is the One by whom the sky stood stable

And the earth; all are brought together by Him.

And the earth - for all a composition from Him.

واستغفر الله للجميع وإن

واستغفر الله للجميع وإن

جاء من الجاهلين تعنيف

جاء من الجاهلين تعنيف

And seek God's forgiveness for everyone, even if

And seek forgiveness from God for everyone, even

Harsh rebuke comes from the ignorant.

If there comes from the ignorant ones, rebuke.

هذا مقام يجل عن رجل

هذا مقام يجل عن رجل

له ادعاء به وتوصيف

له ادعاء به وتوصيف

This is a station too exalted for a man

This is a position too lofty for a man

Who lays claim to it and describes it.

To claim it and characterize it.
