Turn toward every eye, O eye of mine—turn,
Lead all eyes, O my eye, lead,
in beholding Love, among reader and unlettered alike.
In beholding the beloved—those of readers and the unlettered.

Turn not toward what is other-than-God or anything other; rather, turn
And seek neither otherness nor the other; rather seek
toward my father, whom you knew before—or my mother.
My father, whom you have known before, or my mother.
