Through divine favor, we journeyed by night upon noble she-camels,

until we entered the abodes of the beloveds.

وقرت عيوني بالعيون التي رنت

وقرت عيوني بالعيون التي رنت

إليَّ بأحداق كمثل القواضب

إليَّ بأحداق كمثل القواضب

And my eyes were gladdened by the eyes that gazed

at me with pupils like keen-edged swords.

وفي زمزم الإقبال كان اغتسالنا

وفي زمزم الإقبال كان اغتسالنا

عشية أجنبنا بمس الأجانب

عشية أجنبنا بمس الأجانب

And in the Zamzam of welcome we took our ritual bath,

the evening we became ritually impure through touching strangers.

وطفنا ببيت العز في ذلة الهوى

وطفنا ببيت العز في ذلة الهوى

وقمنا بفرض في المحبة واجب

وقمنا بفرض في المحبة واجب

And we circled the house of glory in love's abasement,

and we fulfilled an obligatory duty in love.

وللحجر المعروف قام استلامنا

وللحجر المعروف قام استلامنا

مقام عهود في حقوق لوازب

مقام عهود في حقوق لوازب

And our ritual touching of the well-known Stone stood

in place of pledges concerning binding obligations.

ونلنا الصفا عند الصفا يوم سعينا

ونلنا الصفا عند الصفا يوم سعينا

إلى مروة التركيب فوق المراكب

إلى مروة التركيب فوق المراكب

And we attained purity at Safa the day we hastened

to the Marwa of composition, upon mounts.

وفي عرفات الوصل نلنا معارفاً

وفي عرفات الوصل نلنا معارفاً

تجل عن الترتيب بين المراتب

تجل عن الترتيب بين المراتب

And at the Arafat of union we attained insights

too exalted for ordering among the ranks.

ومزدلفات القرب مسجد خيفها

ومزدلفات القرب مسجد خيفها

تجرد عن خوف به في الرغائب

تجرد عن خوف به في الرغائب

And the Muzdalifahs of nearness—their Khayf mosque

became free of fear therein, amid desired things.

وهذا منى قلبي بوادي منى دنا

وهذا منى قلبي بوادي منى دنا

وقد فزت من تحصيله بالغرائب

وقد فزت من تحصيله بالغرائب

And this—my heart's desire—drew near in the valley of Mina,

and through attaining it, I indeed won wondrous things.
