لاnot يغيبis absent وبهand through him نلتI attained الكمالperfection
The worlds are empty of him who dwells in my heart.
The universes are empty of the one who dwells in my heart
He is never absent; through him I attained perfection.
He never leaves, and through him I attained perfection
فانقلواso report ياO قومpeople عمنof him who ليfor me فيin ليليmy night نديمa boon companion
ذاthis الحبيبthe beloved أناI منهfrom him كالظلالlike shadows
So tell, O people, of him who is my companion in my night.
So convey, O people, the one who is my companion in my dark night
This beloved—I am like the shadows he casts.
This beloved, I am to him like shadows
واحدone لماwhen تثنيbecame two هامwas enraptured فيهwith him ذوone possessed of الغرامpassionate love
والظنونand conjectures تجعلmake الفردthe single one كثيرmany
One—when he became two, the passionate lover was enraptured by him.
When one becomes infatuated with him, the lonely becomes many
And conjectures make the single one many.
Suspicions make the individual plentiful
نالgained منهfrom him ماwhat تمنىhe wished for عاشقlover of البدرthe full moon التمامthe perfect
والعيونand the eyes كمhow many لهاthey have فيناamong us قتالbattles
The lover of the perfect full moon gained from him what he wished for.
He attained from him what the lover of the full moon wished for
And the eyes—how many battles they wage among us!
And how many battles have eyes fought against us
ماno علىover ذاthis الوجهface حاجبa veil وهوand he ظاهرmanifest لاnot سواهother than him
عندناwith us جلhe is exalted منwith غيرno شبيهequal
No veil covers this face; he alone is manifest.
Nothing adorns this face except him, apparent without any equal
For us, he is exalted, with no equal.
To us he is the most majestic without any like
فعليناso upon us الموتdeath واجبobligatory إنماonly الموتdeath حياهlife
مذsince دناhe drew near بجلالwith majesty وجمالand beauty
So death is incumbent upon us; death is nothing but life,
Death is obligatory upon us, but death is life
Since he drew near with majesty and beauty.
When he came near with his majesty and beauty

My Lord never ceased giving life to the Prophet Mustafa
And the Companions, at every moment and in every age,
And all the Companions every time and era
