أمسك الحق باليدِ

أمسك الحق باليدِ

كل شيء محددِ

كل شيء محددِ

The Real held in His hand

Grasp the truth with your hand

every bounded thing.

Everything is determined

ولقد كان مطلقاً

ولقد كان مطلقاً

فبدا كالمقيد

فبدا كالمقيد

And He was indeed absolute,

And it was once unbounded

then appeared as though bound,

So it seemed constrained

حين مفقودنا أتى

حين مفقودنا أتى

بوجود كموجد

بوجود كموجد

when our absent one came

When we were lost, he came

with existence, like a giver of being.

With an existence like a creator

والذي في ضلالة

والذي في ضلالة

صار فيه كمهتدي

صار فيه كمهتدي

And the one who was astray

And the one in misguidance

became therein like one rightly guided.

Became in it like one guided

ثم قرت عيونه

ثم قرت عيونه

وارتوى قلبه الصدي

وارتوى قلبه الصدي

Then his eyes grew cool with contentment,

Then his eyes were sated

and his thirsty heart drank its fill.

And his sincere heart quenched

يا أبا الخير لا تكن

يا أبا الخير لا تكن

بالسوى في تردد

بالسوى في تردد

O Abu al-Khayr, do not be

O father of good, do not be

in doubt over what is other than Him.

Hesitant in equality

إنما كل منتهى

إنما كل منتهى

في الورى كل مبتدي

في الورى كل مبتدي

Every ending is nothing but

Indeed every endpoint

every beginning among created beings.

In existence like every beginning

فإذا لاح كوكبٌ

فإذا لاح كوكبٌ

منك فاشهده تهتدي

منك فاشهده تهتدي

So when a star shines

So if a star emerges

from you, behold it, and you will be guided.

From you, witness it for guidance

ومتى ما بدا أما

ومتى ما بدا أما

مك في ذاتك اقتد

مك في ذاتك اقتد

And whenever it appears before

And whenever anything appears

you within your own essence, follow it.

In your essence, follow it

واجتنب كل مشرك

واجتنب كل مشرك

في ثياب الموحد

في ثياب الموحد

And shun every polytheist

And avoid every polytheist

in a monotheist's robes.
