أشكو من الله إلى خلقه

إني إذاً من أهل دار الجحيمْ

Should I complain of God to His creation,

I complain of God to His creation

I would then indeed be among the dwellers of Hell.

Though I would then be of Hell's denizens

وإنما شكري له دائماً

وإنما شكري له دائماً

على توالي الفضل منه العظيم

على توالي الفضل منه العظيم

Rather, my gratitude is always to Him,

Yet my gratitude to Him is everlasting

for His great bounty, bestowed time after time.

For His boundless favors so tremendous

ألم يكن أوجد ما لم يكن

ألم يكن أوجد ما لم يكن

مني بإيجاد جواد كريم

مني بإيجاد جواد كريم

Did He not bring into being what had not existed

Did He not bring into being what was not?

of me, through the creative act of a bountiful, gracious One?

By creating this generous soul of mine

وهو الذي يحفظني بالذي

وهو الذي يحفظني بالذي

يمدُّني منه برزق مقيم

يمدُّني منه برزق مقيم

And He is the One who preserves me through what

And He it is who protects me with that

He supplies me with from Himself—enduring sustenance.

Which provides me lasting livelihood

وكيفما كنت أرى فضله

وكيفما كنت أرى فضله

غامرني وهو الغفور الرحيم

غامرني وهو الغفور الرحيم

And whatever my state, I see His bounty

However I see His bounty abound

has engulfed me; and He is the All-Forgiving, the Merciful.

It immerses me, for He is Forgiving and Merciful
