1. انظر الكل لطيفا

    لا ترى شيئا كثيفا

    Regard everything as subtle;

    You see nothing dense.

  2. إنما الكل معاني

    فخبيثاً وشريفا

    All are but meanings,

    Both base and noble:

  3. صبغة الله الذي قد

    شرع الدين حنيفا

    The coloring of God, who has

    Ordained the upright faith.

  4. لا ترى من دونه في

    خلقه شيئاً مخيفا

    Apart from Him, you do not see in

    His creation anything fearsome.

  5. واكشف الستر مقاماً

    في ذرى القرب منيفا

    And lift the veil at a station

    Lofty on the summits of nearness.

  6. وعن الأكوان طراً

    كن بمولاك عفيفا

    And from all created worlds,

    Remain chaste through your Master.

  7. هو حق وسواه

    باطل جاء لفيفا

    He is the Real, and all besides Him

    Is falsehood that came in a throng.

  8. ووجود مطلق عن

    قيده شف شفيفا

    And existence, free from

    Its fetter, grew wholly transparent.

  9. جعل الكامل منا

    عنه في الأرض خليفا

    He made the perfect one among us

    A deputy for Him upon the earth.

  10. كل شيء في يديه

    كله صار الوريفا

    Everything is in his hands;

    All of it became spreading shade.

  11. لم يزل منه قوياً

    ومن النفس ضعيفا

    He has always been strong through Him,

    And weak through the self.

  12. فإذا أمحل قطر

    حله أصبح ريفا

    So when a region grows barren,

    He settles there, and it becomes fertile countryside.

  13. حيث كاس الحق تجلى

    وشراب الغير عيفا

    Where the cup of the Real shone forth,

    And the drink of otherness was shunned.

  14. منيتي في مستواها

    تبعث الروح هفيفا

    My heart's desire, in her station,

    Sends the spirit fluttering.

  15. ولأقلام التجلي

    سمعت أذني صريفا

    And from the pens of self-revelation,

    My ear heard a scratching.

  16. هي ذات الخال فيها

    لم تجد إلا لهيفا

    She is the one with the beauty spot; in her

    You found only one anguished.

  17. أنزلت قولاً ثقيلاً

    جعل الكون خفيفا

    She sent down a weighty utterance

    That made the universe light.

  18. جذبتني بالمجالي

    نحوها جذباً عنيفا

    She drew me through the manifestations

    Toward her with a violent pull.

  19. وأقامتني إماماً

    بين قومي وعريفا

    And appointed me an imam

    Among my people, and a headman.

  20. وبها صرت بصيراً

    بعد ما كنت كفيفا

    And through her I became sighted,

    After I had been blind.

  21. وبأنواع كمال

    منحت عقلي السخيفا

    And with kinds of perfection

    She endowed my feeble mind.

  22. فأنا اليوم بها في

    أهلها قمت وصيفا

    So I, today, through her, among

    Her people, have taken my place as a young servant.
