O Saʿd, ours is the ascendant of the sacred Unseen.

So there is no ill fortune; rather, all our times are good fortune.

And our celestial spheres have revolved according to our Lord's decree,

As fortune and a life of ease require.

    She is the sun, appearing from her worlds' zodiacal signs;

And in truth no sign exists if she does not appear.

Her decrees derive from the rule of her names, which

Are beyond enumeration: they cannot be numbered.

A true existence, to which creation is ascribed,

All of it—with no before or after for anything.

It has not been divided; rather, each thing subsists by His command,

Within its own bounds, for no bound confines Him.

And no affair distracts Him from another, so

Neither lowland nor highland has sole claim to His self-disclosure.

And my saying 'existence,' as the knower understands

It, discloses what ecstasy points toward.

Through Him all things exist, and all are nothing but what

That Unique One determines in His knowledge.

Thus no existent that appears alongside His existence

Has existence; ascertain this, and let denial not mislead you.

And be apparent through illusion, for all is perishing,

Except His Face—that is, His Essence—for He is the goal.

And make peace; concede the disputant his claim,

For no speaker speaks from himself, where no 'place' exists.

But His names have come to stand in opposition,

So to some belongs error, and to others right guidance.
