O morning breeze of Najd

you have deepened my longing.

عن شذا الأحباب

Would that you could bring solace

I wish you would find

from the loved ones' fragrance.

The scent of my loved ones

لم أزل هائم

لم أزل هائم

في هوى الدائم

في هوى الدائم

I remain enraptured

I remain infatuated

in love with the Everlasting One.

With enduring love

والسوى نائم

والسوى نائم

سد عنه الباب

سد عنه الباب

And all else lies asleep;

While reason sleeps

the door is barred to it.

Close the door on it

يا بريق الغور

يا بريق الغور

جرت أقوى جور

جرت أقوى جور

O gleam of the Ghawr,

O light of the cave

you have dealt the harshest injustice.

A great injustice has flowed

إن فوق الطور

إن فوق الطور

هذه الأوصاب

هذه الأوصاب

Indeed, above the Mount

For above the mountain

are these afflictions.

Is this longing

سارت الركبان

سارت الركبان

فانتفت أكوان

فانتفت أكوان

The riders journeyed on,

The caravan has marched

and worlds ceased to be;

And the universes have vanished

والخفي قد بان

والخفي قد بان

مذ رقيبي غاب

مذ رقيبي غاب

and the hidden has become manifest

The hidden has now appeared

since my watcher vanished.

Since my watcher left

نلت فضل الكاس

نلت فضل الكاس

دون كل الناس

دون كل الناس

I gained the cup's bounty,

I obtained the virtue of the cup

apart from all others;

Above all other people

وامتلا إيناس

وامتلا إيناس

قلبي المشتاق

قلبي المشتاق

and filled with solace

And my yearning heart was filled

was my yearning heart.

والذي في الغيب

والذي في الغيب

شق عنه الجيب

شق عنه الجيب

And what lay in the unseen—

That which was unseen

the collar was torn open to reveal it—

I opened its chest

ما بقى في الريب

عند فتح الطاق

no longer remained in doubt

No doubt remained

when the arched window was opened.

When the cloak was opened

قل لأحبابي

قل لأحبابي

هل بهم ما بي

هل بهم ما بي

Tell my loved ones:

Tell my loved ones

Do they feel what I feel?

Do they have what I have

شرب أكواب

شرب أكواب

مزق العشاق

مزق العشاق

Drinking from cups

Drinking cups

has torn the lovers apart.

That tore apart the lovers

فاسألوا نظره

فاسألوا نظره

خادم الحضره

خادم الحضره

So seek the regard of

So ask their watchman

the servant of the Presence;

Servant of the neighborhood

تغنمو أجره

تغنمو أجره

يا أولي الألباب

يا أولي الألباب

you will gain his reward,

Take advantage of his reward

O people of understanding.

O people of insight

صل يا فتاح

مع سلام فاح

مع سلام فاح

Send blessings, O Opener,

Pray, O Opener

with peace whose fragrance spreads,

With greetings of diffusion

للذي قد لاح

نوره في الكون

upon him whose

For He whose light

light has shone in creation:

Shone in the universe

Then, afterward, upon the Family,

the gathering place of virtues,

بالتقى والصون

and upon the company of heroes,

Company of heroes

with piety and protection,

للغنى العبد

للغنى العبد

حافظ للعهد

حافظ للعهد

for al-Ghani, the servant,

For the rich servant

keeper of the covenant,

Loyal to the covenant

باذل الجهد

باذل الجهد

يرتجي الوهاب

يرتجي الوهاب

exerting every effort,

Exerting effort

who hopes in the Bestower.
