يا نسبة أدخلت سلمان في النسب

يقول طه رسول الله خير نبي

O bond that brought Salman into the lineage!

O lineage that brought Salman into lineage

Ta-Ha, God's Messenger, the best of prophets, says:

Says Taha, Messenger of God, the best prophet

سلمان منا بآل البيت ألحقه

سلمان منا بآل البيت ألحقه

مع أنه فارسي ليس بالعربي

مع أنه فارسي ليس بالعربي

“Salman is one of us”—he joined him to the Household,

Salman is one of us, the People of the House, include him

Though he was Persian, not an Arab.

Though he is Persian, not an Arab

وأخرجت عمه الأدنى إليه كما

وأخرجت عمه الأدنى إليه كما

أتاه تبت يدا وحياً أبي لهب

أتاه تبت يدا وحياً أبي لهب

And it excluded the Messenger's uncle, nearest to him, as

And you brought out his paternal uncle as he

Revelation came to him: “May the hands of Abu Lahab perish!”

Came repenting, alive, O Abi Lahab

فابحث عن النسبة المرفوع جانبها

فابحث عن النسبة المرفوع جانبها

ما تلك واعمل عليها فيك وانتسب

ما تلك واعمل عليها فيك وانتسب

So inquire into the bond whose standing is exalted:

So look into the elevated lineage, its side

What is it? Cultivate it within yourself, and claim its kinship.

What is that? And act upon it, in yourself, and attribute

ومجمل القول في معنى حقيقتها

ومجمل القول في معنى حقيقتها

بأنها ملة الإسلام فاحتسب

بأنها ملة الإسلام فاحتسب

And the gist of what is said of its true meaning

And the summary of the word, in its true meaning

Is that it is the faith of Islam—so seek God's reward.

Is that it is the religion of Islam, so take account

إسلام روح وعقل للإله معا

إسلام روح وعقل للإله معا

بلا شعور ولا قصد ولا أرب

بلا شعور ولا قصد ولا أرب

The surrender of spirit and intellect together to God,

Islam of spirit and mind for God together

Without awareness, intention, or desire.

Without feeling, intent or purpose

هذا وتفصيله إن رمت تعرفه

هذا وتفصيله إن رمت تعرفه

فإنها حالة مجموعة الأدب

فإنها حالة مجموعة الأدب

Such is it; as for its details, if you wish to know them:

And if you want to know its details

For it is a state in which all proper conduct is gathered.

It is a state of collected manners

سر من الغيب سار في سريرة من

سر من الغيب سار في سريرة من

له يريد بلا سعي ولا سبب

له يريد بلا سعي ولا سبب

A secret from the unseen that flowed into the inmost heart of one

A secret from the unseen flowed in one

For whom He wills it, without striving or cause.

Who wants without effort or cause

فإن بدت لك من فيض الإله هنا

فإن بدت لك من فيض الإله هنا

فاسجد لمولاك في دنياك واقترب

فاسجد لمولاك في دنياك واقترب

So if it appears to you here from God's outpouring,

So if it appears to you from the overflowing of God

Then prostrate yourself to your Lord in your earthly life, and draw near:

Then prostrate to your Master in your life and draw near

سجود قلب أنار الغيب طلعته

سجود قلب أنار الغيب طلعته

فلم يدع عنده ريباً من الريب

فلم يدع عنده ريباً من الريب

The prostration of a heart whose countenance the unseen illumined,

A prostration of a heart whose rising He illuminated

And so left him with no doubt of any kind.

So He left in it no doubt or suspicion

وأسلمت نفسه طوعاً لخالفها

وأسلمت نفسه طوعاً لخالفها

وآمنت بالذي فيها من الرتب

وآمنت بالذي فيها من الرتب

And his soul willingly surrendered to its Creator,

And his soul submitted willingly to its contrary

And believed in the ranks within itself.

And believed in what ranks were in it

وأصبحت سائر الأكوان تطلبه

وأصبحت سائر الأكوان تطلبه

لأنه سرها المخصوص بالقرب

لأنه سرها المخصوص بالقرب

And all created worlds began to seek him,

And all of existence began seeking Him

For he is their secret, singled out for nearness:

For He is its secret of nearness

تنزلات كلام لا حروف له

تنزلات كلام لا حروف له

ولا عروض معاني جملة الكتب

ولا عروض معاني جملة الكتب

Descents of speech that has no letters,

Revelations of speech without letters

Nor the arising of the meanings of all the books.

Or prosody, the meanings of all books

حق تنزه عن روح وعن جسد

حق تنزه عن روح وعن جسد

وعن ظهور وعما في البطون خبى

وعن ظهور وعما في البطون خبى

A reality exalted beyond spirit and body,

A truth transcendent of spirit and body

And beyond manifestation, and beyond what lay concealed in hiddenness.

And appearance and what is hidden in the abdomens
