My prayer is to her; rather, her prayer is to me.

From her to her, her ties extend.

And with exclusive emphasis, the Qur’an says: It is He who

bestows blessings upon you; then her guides appear:

angels, joined after Him by the word “and.”

She is the whole; through self-disclosure her distinguishing marks vanish.

And we are those whose forms arose through illusion.

That illusion is what her darkness gives us.

Our emergence from it into light is certain.

And light is only what her narrators have related.

I magnify her beyond myself; and she who held herself high

above me gave generously of her very self in humility.

He has a unity unlike any other unity; and I

marveled at an essence made many by its attributes.

We ascended to her, and that was her descent

to us; thus her prostrations were named through us.

And if her servant draws nearer while prostrating,

that is only because her constancy effaces him.

She drew near and descended, and light met darkness

when her sobriety ran riot upon her in drunkenness.

We hold authority within her inwardly, while she outwardly

holds authority within us; her judges have confirmed it.
