My heart is hurt by passion's sting

    My body wrecked by suffering

O you for whom I stay awake while you sleep

Gazing at other than your beauty would be a sin

And other than your words to me are meaningless

I've heard the blames of maidens all

While I from righteousness did fall

Happy we are to see you even in our dreams

An eagle's age with you is but a moment it seems

An hour without you seems a year or more

Our promised time with you has been delayed

If only we could have an eternity of your company to portray

So much abandonment I see, so much flirtation

My patience with you is an impossibility

And I have no killer but sevrance's pain

The clouds have veiled the sun of your beauty

Thus my qualities in gloom have become unruly

O you in whom my knowledge is made certain

When I look at you my worries are no longer burden

And when you're absent worries crowd me like pigeons

    Remembering you excites ardent passions

And intoxicates me until I become like one insane

Could I find anyone as pleasant as you to entertain?

I wish I could become your boon companion

And a tent be pitched for me in your encampment

In the night of estrangement wish for the morn

And with gifts make up for your aloof scorn

And if you wish to be rewarded

Then heal with union a heart broken and battered

Wandering for you when darkness falls

Stirred by the breeze that bears your name

And longing for you though patience it does claim

Its song of passion for you is the same

For the sake of some love and kindness you've shown

We've been struck down by your arrows thrown

Perhaps from you will come some care we've been loaned

For you are creation's most precious stone

If you so wish my hopes could be sown

Through you the knowledge of righteousness is now in absence

And I cannot see anyone in the world as comparable to your eminence

Whenever from you the ardent lover takes a draft

Through you the difficult is turned into the soft and daft

So be generous O noble and magnanimous folk

I've drunk your wine as child and elder

And suffered hard and easy passion's smolder

So slow down O noble souls, slow down I say

None but you are suited to generosity's way

How then can one turn away from your abode, preventing its doorway?
