قد ظهرْ مني وجودي

قد ظهرْ مني وجودي

وهو في الغيب القديمْ

وهو في الغيب القديمْ

My being has indeed appeared from me,

My existence has appeared from me,

and it is in the eternal unseen.

While it was in the ancient unseen.

وتجلى في شهودي

وتجلى في شهودي

فأنا العلم العليمْ

فأنا العلم العليمْ

And it has manifested itself in my witnessing,

And it was manifested in my witnessing,

so I am knowledge, all-knowing.

So I am the Knowing, the All-Knowing.

وهو ربي وهو حسبي

وهو ربي وهو حسبي

ملئ قلبي فتحقق يا نديمْ

ملئ قلبي فتحقق يا نديمْ

And he is my Lord, and he suffices me.

He is my Lord and He suffices me,

My heart was filled—so be certain, O drinking companion.

Filling my heart and actualizing, O friend!

قام يختال بقامه

قام يختال بقامه

كقضيب الخيزرانْ

كقضيب الخيزرانْ

He stood, his figure swaying proudly,

He rose up swaggering with his stance,

like a bamboo stalk.

Like a straight, slender reed.

وجهه راخي لثامه

وجهه راخي لثامه

منه لو نلت الأمانْ

منه لو نلت الأمانْ

His face, its veil hanging loose—

His face's veil loosely hanging,

if only I could gain safety from him!

If I could attain safety from Him!

يا رفيقي ضاق زيقي

يا رفيقي ضاق زيقي

وا حريقي في هوى الوجه الوسيمْ

وا حريقي في هوى الوجه الوسيمْ

O my companion, my collar has grown tight;

O my companion, my path is narrowed,

alas, how I burn in love for the handsome face!

And my burning in love of the beautiful face.

راح يزهو في غلائل

راح يزهو في غلائل

وهو عن ذاك منزَّهْ

وهو عن ذاك منزَّهْ

He went strutting in sheer robes,

He went away, glorying in his tresses,

yet he is exalted above that.

While he is far above that.

أهيفٌ حلو الشمائل

أهيفٌ حلو الشمائل

فيه قلبي يتنزَّهْ

فيه قلبي يتنزَّهْ

Slender-waisted, sweet of disposition,

A gazelle, sweet of traits,

in him my heart strolls at leisure.

In whom my heart becomes purified.

وجه باهي طلق زاهي

وجه باهي طلق زاهي

عنه ساهي عاذلي ذاك اللئيمْ

عنه ساهي عاذلي ذاك اللئيمْ

A lovely face, cheerful and radiant—

A radiant, bright face,

my reproacher, that base fellow, is heedless of it.

I become forgetful before that despicable villain.

سبح اسم الله يا من

سبح اسم الله يا من

قد رأى حسن المليحْ

قد رأى حسن المليحْ

Glorify God's name, O you who

Glorify the name of Allah, O you who

have seen the beauty of the lovely one.

Has seen the beauty of the Lovely One.

والذي بالله آمن

والذي بالله آمن

يعشق الوجه الصبيحْ

يعشق الوجه الصبيحْ

And whoever has believed in God

And the one who believes in Allah,

loves the radiant face with passion.

Loves the youthful face.

لا تماري صنع باري

لا تماري صنع باري

حكم جاري في الصراط المستقيمْ

حكم جاري في الصراط المستقيمْ

Do not dispute my Maker's handiwork:

Do not resist the Maker’s artistry,

a decree proceeding along the straight path.

The decree that flows straight.

صل يا ربي وسلم

صل يا ربي وسلم

لي على طه الرسولْ

لي على طه الرسولْ

Send blessings, O my Lord, and grant peace

Send your prayers and peace,

on my behalf upon Taha, the Messenger.

Upon Taha, the Messenger,

وهو للخير معلم

وهو للخير معلم

وهو مفتاح الوصولْ

وهو مفتاح الوصولْ

And he is a teacher of goodness,

Who is a teacher of good,

and he is the key to attainment.

And the key to arrival.

وهو ساقي خمر باقي

وهو ساقي خمر باقي

فيه راقي للغني عبدٌ سقيمْ

فيه راقي للغني عبدٌ سقيمْ

And he is the cupbearer of everlasting wine;

He is the eternal wine-bearer

through him an ailing servant ascends to the Self-Sufficient.

In whom I find healing, a sick destitute.
